quote:yeah, now they do and bill goes first and their numbers get a bump from his lead in.
Most of the Fox personalities "win" their time slots
quote:who? who was drawing people to fox in the 90s and early 2000s. i will say that ailes made sure he put Hannity on radio on the same station as rush directly after him which guarantees you millions of listeners and then used it as a promo for the show. Hannity had never done radio, had never been on tv and overnight he has a 3 hour radio show following the biggest act in radio and pretty soon was following the biggest act on cable news.
so I'd argue many others are also responsible for contributing to Fox's success

well now i do because everyone should know as of now that settling will be used against you as an admission of wrong doing. every allegation is now the word of god.
this is not new.
Are you saying there was nothing to bill clinton and paula jones?

that's why many people would settle.
There is a calculation involved in every settlement, and I would trust fox's lawyers to know how to figure it out.
Bill oreilly doesn't change any of these calculations IMHO.

loyalty is tested only when you have some shite to potentially lose. and look, if someone offered o'reilly more, he would've been gone in an instant. i understand the way things work and they make sense to me, but occasionally i just wish someone would tell everyone to go frick off especially in isntances where the motive is slimy and the outrage insincere.
the only company has done it is the one company that shouldn't...united

He made them money, the settlements were just another cost of doing business, nothing more.

there are tons of reasons i think bill did it, jakco molested kids (chief among them being his own actions and words) and that bill o'reilly used his position to get some action (because that's a tale as old as time. anyone ever watch the porn where the chick has to suck his dick to get the job? )
but settling a suit didn't (does now i guess) tell me a thing. the black crows settled with a guy who had a napkin with some writing on it and claimed it was a contract...they settled to make the guy just frick off because it's a waste of time and court is expensive and who wants that press. you want your press to be related to what you do.

if this is telling you something new, you haven't been paying attention. hell in the last year, trump settled that trumpU thing which a lot of people interrupted him as realizing he was going to lose.

but hey, now everyone is clear. there is NO benefit to settling an extortion suit.

It was a win. That was most probably the Dem's only shot.
As for O'Reilly, regardless of how much of it is true, it just proves the old adage; Never dip your pen in the company ink.

You can pretty much be sure of that imo. For every one woman that wasn't too terrified to report something in that rape culture Fox fostered, you can pretty much be sure 2 more didnt report it. The shite went all the way to the top.
Pathetic.

Totally fine with this. I never really liked his show. Bill needs to be replaced with a conservative satire show, a fox news version of The Daily Show. They need someone young, funny, and charismatic.
Posted on 4/19/17 at 1:07 pm to HubbaBubba
Totally agree - unless he did something extremely physical or used his influence to sabotage/accelerate a woman's career (See Bill Clinton for the archetypical example of this) then he was just acting normally.

but he got his real start on inside edition. it was a tabloid show.
As an out front personality...yes. But he was a reporter for CBS and ABC News. He was in Argentina for the Falklands War and covered for ABC....he's not like a Hannity whao was a DJ or Tucker who has been running around as a pundit most of his life

Nothing is new. It's always "the conservative version of" or "political version of"
If you're going to knock somebody off, just steal bill maher's gimmick

There are a lot of hacks on TV and O'Reilly is an a-hole off the air, but in my opinion he was generally pretty fair in his commentary and his Talking Points were usually right on the money. Hate that is gone now.
Agree. I met O'Reilly very briefly...definitely an a-hole from what I saw. If I had a nice pair of tits he might have been more approachable?
Talking Points was the best part of his show. He didn't know what he was talking about when it came to firearms. I very much liked his interruptions of spinners. But he has become pompous with interruptions wanting to support his opinion.

Then you don't watch Fox News...because without O'Reilly as the lead in at night, no one would really watch Hannity or for that matter Tucker or ( Greta / Megyn) and I will bet the ratings slip...big time

has this been confirmed?
they better put Lou Dobbs in that spot

But his gimmick was boring. Only old people watched the O'Reilly Factor. It wasn't informative or entertaining. If you're going to be a partisan shill, at least try and have a sense of humor.
