yep. and actually putting up SIGNS that say "no turns" on cut throughs people have been using thanks to Waze.

literally putting up a sign during peak times not allowing people on streets that avoid traffic.

oh that's beautiful

I actually have 2 routes I go to work - and both of them are starting to increase in traffic as time goes by, it's obvious more and more people are using the app, I love it

i thought this would be about the shitty notifications I get whenever I go somewhere, begging me to take a picture and leave a review

"how was your trip to olive or twist? Help others and take a picture and rate it. Was their a wheelchair ramp?"

I actually agree.

Google Maps is an amazing gift to humanity, but it's gotten increasingly annoying on desktop.

As for Waze, I just haven't learned to trust it yet. It'll divert me some new way, and then as soon as I commit to it, I get a "traffic is building ahead" notice and my trip time increases by 5-6 minutes.

I also get neighborhood frustrations, as we get people from the adjacent county cutting through my hood every day, backing up traffic and whatnot. I get it, they're looking to shorten their commute, but it's definitely annoying.

Google maps doesn't do this on iphones?

It does, when prompted, as the post stated.

I use waze regularly, but I have to admit it sends me on some weird routes from time to time.

Like making a few turns to avoid sitting at a red light, but it puts me at the same intersection at a stop sign, where I have to cross over a busy highway. Sitting at the light and waiting on the green arrow would have been faster.

it does shite like this a lot. Can be frustrating.

I like playing PacMan on the tigerland map on my phone, spooky is always lurking around JL's back parking lot.

I have a Pixel but my Google Maps will prompt me when there's an accident or slowdown and there is an alternate route I can take. Google owns Waze so it pulls from some of the same resources.

I like Google better for some things:

-shows you what lane to be in
-is more up front about what route you're being put on and the time differences in alternative routes

Agreed and the interface is much better than Waze.

don't need to see little cartoons of other people using the app near me.

It's just on your current route to show you there's other people clocking ahead of you. If there's no one ahead of you using waze you should probably use a little more caution in your speeding.

Most sites, especially state and federal, look like they've been done by committee.
They contain everything they think you need, but really don't.

I heard everyone raving about Waze a while back. I downloaded it. I couldn't use it for more than 5 minutes without wanting to gouge my eyes out. What a terrible interface.

ETA: Just downloaded it again and the interface seems way better than it used to be.

My biggest peeve with Waze is sending me on a route that requires a left turn onto a 4 lane road without a light.

It's just asking me to die
