Meh..The "importance" of this is, what?

This board is on a roll with posting bullshite headlines and linking articles that say otherwise.

President Donald Trump reorganized his National Security Council on Wednesday, removing his chief strategist, Stephen Bannon, and downgrading the role of his Homeland Security Adviser, Tom Bossert, according to a person familiar with the decision and a regulatory filing.

Bannon was on the Council to re-shape Obama-era NSC. He feels that job is done and has now moved on per Robert Costa.

White House official said that Bannon was placed on the committee in part to monitor Trump’s first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, and never attended a meeting. He’s no longer needed with McMaster in charge of the council, the official said.

If true, then that's a good move. Never trusted that Media Executive.

I guess he should have used a bathroom server.

not a big deal, other than the war for power in the white house.

This isn't breaking news. This is old news.
The title of the thread leads one to think that Bannon did something wrong. It was unusual for Bannon to be on NSC to begin with. Obama had Ben Rhodes as deputy nat sec and Rhodes failed his clearance and was pushed through.
Gen. McMaster chose his team is all.

Feb 22,2017
White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday that if President Donald Trump’s newly appointed national security adviser wanted to remove chief strategist Steve Bannon from the National Security Council’s principals committee, the president would “take that under serious consideration.”
“The president has made clear to him he’s got full authority to structure the national security team the way he wants,” Spicer said of Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, whom Trump appointed Monday as his new national security adviser. Spicer made the remarks in the daily White House press briefing.
When asked if Gen. McMaster’s control over his team would extend to control of the principals committee and the potential removal of the chief strategist, Spicer said that McMaster “would come to the president and make that recommendation, but the president would take that under high—you know, serious consideration.”

Hr McMaster doing work
The way Bannon acted like an idiot during the Trumpcare negotiations (according to Freedom Caucus members) it's not surprising that McMaster is not putting up with his arse on the Security Council.
Good move by him or Trump, whoever made the decision. Will help Trump politically because Bannon is seen as an evil puppetmaster whether it is true or not.

And the CJCS and DNI have been restored as permanent members of the Principal's Committee.
So basically a return to the norm/sensible 70 days in.
I guess that's progress. It's probably more accurate, at this point, to assume that he was read out of some of the programs that he'd need cognizance of as a member of the PC than to say that his clearance was "downgraded." He probably still holds a TS/SCI for now.
Good. Guy's a PoS. I do wonder if this is just a nod to pressure from the National Security establishment to restore some normalcy, or if it portends something more significant and specific to this admin. I wonder if the admin is concerned that something about Bannon or his close ties could spell trouble and want to be able to jettison him and downplay his role if/when the time comes.

Bannon, the former executive chairman of Breitbart News, was elevated to the National Security Council’s principals committee at the beginning of Trump’s presidency. The move drew criticism from some members of Congress and Washington’s foreign policy establishment.
A White House official said that Bannon was placed on the committee in part to monitor Trump’s first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, and never attended a meeting. He’s no longer needed with McMaster in charge of the council, the official said.

he isn't out, he is just off the NSC. He still retains a very strong center of power just probably diminished with regards to national security.
