I sent a personal tweet in reaction to what I considered a smug
Now that is a smug looking person if I've ever seen one.

That's actually the guy? He looks exactly like what I pictured.

The thing that bothers me most about this is Drexel still feels the need to employ this guy. WTF

First time I have ever even slightly agreed with anything you have ever posted.

healthy respect for and against the Military and those who serve and have served.

I have found that the more someone talks about their service it usually directly relates to how little they have usually done.

Expressing thanks and offering an easily doable kindness may not epitomize sincerity but it hardly merits derision as some sort of misplaced "worship".
I mean unless you can read people's minds about how deeply they feel and all...

Hyphenated last names for men. LOL.
That smug bastard just needs a medium arse whooping and I think he'd be a better person for it.

English?
I actually see you as more bald than that douche and you likely do have a hyphenated last name unless you went full pussy SJW and took the last name of your male spouse.

He took his wife's last name...LOL

Military hero worship is really silly.
Agree...American jingoism is pretty cringey
Hero worship? I guess leftist hatred for our soldiers seems just as cringey.
Now, I don't believe the left (or most of them) hate our military, but it seems like an appropriate response to these posts. I would rather make a hero of someone that fights and gives their life for our country, than someone who comes here illegally and lives off my dime.
But, i guess we can all pick our own heroes.

I am more commenting on an American cultural phenomenon. The need to thank people for their service (Because I'm sure that dude wants to be stopped 30 times at the airport looking for his gate so you can feel patriotic). The flawed idea that every single person in the military is a "hero" (which basically renders the term hero meaningless). It is a by-product of a large and dedicated propaganda machine which has to glorify military service in order to maintain recruitment levels.

Pretty much what it has become. Pretty silly.

That makes zero sense, but cool I guess.
Smug, left-leaning hipster has never been my posting style.

The reason I will always pay my respects to our military is because it is not a glorious job. They give up time with their loved ones to go wherever they are told and do a job that sometimes involves risking their life. These people are heroes because if we didn't have them we wouldn't be able to live our lives the way we do today.

No shite. I wonder if they guy that offered his seat immediately jumped on social media looking for attention.

the professor isn’t backing down, saying in a statement, “I sent a personal tweet in reaction to what I considered a smug and self-congratulatory gesture by a first class passenger toward a uniformed soldier. Maybe predictably, my tweet has since been fed into and misrepresented by the outrage machine that is right wing media
So in reaction to what he considers a "smug and self-congratulatory" act in front of dozens of people, he publicly broadcasts his personal opinion to millions of people
