Some point to stars in previous generations who never took games off just to rest. Others, like Bill Simmons, argue that today's game is a lot more taxing on the body for a number of reasons. No matter the reason or the merits for most, for LeBron James, it seems like he has earned an occasional night off. James is only 32, and yet he has already surpassed Michael Jordan in terms of minutes played in their entire careers, including the playoffs. James is currently at 49,227 minutes played, and is projected to surpass 50,000 minutes by the end of the season.

They should have included baseball game minutes, and minutes riding the minor league bus around for Jordan

Did we throw 3 NBA seasons out of LeBron's numbers since MJ played at UNC for 3 years of his peak athletic ability?

Better question - do I give a shite?

It is almost as if they have played the same amount of full seasons.

80's and 90's minutes were more grueling than 2010's minutes.

Jordan played less minutes in a watered down league. Is he even top 5 all-time NBA at this point?

Not surprising since they both played 14 seasons not counting when Jordan came back for that short time and they lost to the Magic in playoffs.

also the first round wasn't 7 games back then. At 37 minutes a game that is 518 minutes at least tacked onto lebron

The jordan comparison is a joke
MJ missed a total of 7 games in 12 seasons he wasnt hurt
he had two seasons of 17 and 18 games because of injuries and one of 60 his second to last year because of injury.

Lebron sits more than 7 games in ONE season.

Jordan missed essentially two whole seasons due to injury and took 4 years off to do other shite
They avg the same amount of minutes per game their whole career
And when MJ was lebrons age he played 3 consecutive seasons of 82 games and avg'd more minutes
