They should introduce this in New Orleans. He is spot on about cyclists being rude and self centered. They don't even obey half the traffic laws.

Most cyclist do obey the laws. Just like any other sport or hobby, a few bad ones give the rest a bad name.

They want to be treated like a car until they come to a traffic signal or a stop sign and then they cruise right on by.
I have no issue with them on the road, but it's dangerous to ride with cars on highways and larger arteries.

They consciously undertake an increased risk then expect everyone to grant them special treatment.

Over 18 and on a bike? Needs a license plate.
Subject them to the same laws (traffic cameras) as me on the road.
This generates revenue and allows for some accountability.

Yeah ok, keep telling yourself that.

They sure love turning into pedestrians when the light turns red

Perhaps they should have mandatory safety training for anyone over 16 that is riding on a non neighborhood street.

frick bicyclists. Scum of the earth who act like they own the roads.
Yes I'm mad.

Utterly retarded
Punish everyone instead of punishing the ones not following traffic laws
Goddamn communists

Seems to be more and more of a problem. I think the ones with shotty manners outnumber the good ones.
They're worse on trails.

Isn't that the way everything works?
We require inspection stickers because same assholes don't maintain their cars.
We require insurance because some assholes don't account for their imperfections.
We have strict DUI laws because some people don't know when.
Granted, all of these apply to cars and not bikes, because bikes are above the law.

It's just perception.
Nobody remembers the cyclist that obeys the laws because you don't notice them.

I'd rather be on the highway than on a neighborhood street. Much safer.

I don't think this needs to happen. Implementing the Greenway trail was pretty clutch for getting to the Quarter/ Cbd from Mid City now the city needs one from uptown to downtown. Magazine is not and should not ever be considered a bike friendly path. Take Camp or Prytania for crying out loud.

The only people who should be allowed to bike on roads are people who can't afford a car. You should have to get a state issued license to bike on the roads that has a maximum income/asset requirement.
I don't get how anyone could thinks it's ok to just ride a bike for recreation on a road with 4000 lb, fast moving hunks of metal. If it's "ok" to ride a bike on the side of the road, why not allow people to do cartwheels down the side of the road, or ride skateboards, or pogo stick?
Recreational bikers are pains in the arse that make the road more dangerous.

In the nanny state in which we are living, yes
How about enforce the laws on the books? That would take care of the problem.

I used to get so mad when they would do this in morning rush hour traffic in Dallas. You'd have to drive slower than the speed limit until you could get around them. Then they'd ride past the cars that had just passed them and you have to drive below the speed limit again. The ones that I would encounter all did that.
What I didn't get was that they could have ridden a block north or south and been on a much less traveled road. I'm talking about Lovers Lane or Mockingbird Lane headed west through University Park.

They shouldn't be allowed on any road where they are incapable of going the speed limit.
Posted on 3/20/17 at 7:18 pm to uptownsage
Shouldn't be on the road anyway
They got rid of our center turning lane on west bayou in Lafayette to put in bike lanes for the 3 bikes that ride on it a week......thanks a lot hipsters
