Star Wars vs. Star Trek in a battle for all the marbles...who wins?

Years ago in our bong-hitting days, we'd argue over this topic, and one of my old buddies reminisced about it when we talked earlier this evening. If the strongest forces from each universe battled one another, good or evil, who comes out on top? My friend is convinced Star Trek would get the victory, because they have the Borg, who are capable of adapting. I say the Death Star firing a shot at the Borg would be the equivalent of boot-stomping a cockroach, and they wouldn't be able to adapt jack squat. There were other silly variables discussed like the Force/Dark Side in the SW universe, ST having a guy like Q who could wreck shite up, etc....yeah, I know it's kind of a dumb topic, but who'd get the W?

The Empire/The Republic would annihilate the Federation. Very simple reason:
The Federation is a Type II Civilization
The Empire/Republic are Type III Civilizations
It would be over within a day, although I grant you the Empire loses to Ewoks so embarrassingly doesn't help.

I think the Federation is a type I
The empire is a Type II
(They can take power of entire stars, but not entire galaxies))

My gut instinct says it'd be an easy victory for the Empire/Republic...but then again, their weaponry has been shown to be designed with some pretty wonky architecture, so there's that...

Oh come on. It's not even a contest. A star destroyer or mon calamari battlecrueser alone would take out anything the federation could throw at it and neither of those are even close to the ultimate battle ships in the Star Wars universe. You have Hapan Battledragons, Super Star Destroyers (although they are overkill in every way), Dreadnaughts, and several world destroying space stations.
Probably the most deadly spacecraft in the Star Trek universe is Birds of Prey and an X-wing could probably take one of those out.

Going more off of what NdGT said. That's how he explains the civilizations, with Buck Rodgers being Type I, The Federation being Type II, and The Empire being Type III.

All that is true. But could someone like Q make it more interesting? And like I said before, there seems to be some design flaws in the weaponry of the SW universe. I think SW wins, just trying to be devil's advocate tho lol...

Q is an interdimensial being though, which would be more like a theoretical Type IV civilization. That's not exactly fair. He could destroy the Death Star with his mind.

In case anyone is wondering Neil de Grasse believes the Enterprise would wipe its arse with the Falcon.
Seriously though, did Star Destroyers shoot anything down on film? Star Fleet's phasers actually track their target. Lasers in Star Wars are shot just like a futuristic machine gun and are imprecise weapons.
Also, in theory any civilization that can automatically transport its troops anywhere on a planet at anytime should be unbeatable.

That's probably true, but there are tons and tons of vehicles that can beat the Falcon in the Star Wars Universe. The Falcon is simply good for its speed, not combat abilities.

Star Trek would be all "Hey guise, let's negotiate!" while Star Wars would be all "Bitch IDGAF if you think I shot first or not b/c all I know is your arse is dead."

Any Jedi or Sith would see right through Kirk's corbomite maneuver, and it would be a light saber up the arse instead of tranya down the throat.

What happens when the Borg assimilate a Jedi or a Sith?

Nah, Federation is type 2, Republic is type 3.
Its not energy source, its energy scale.
And energy is a lot more "free" in star wars than Trek, and the territory is far larger.

Case in point:
The Enterprise is often times depicted as the flagship of the Federation. In multiple places the most sophisticated craft they have in the fleet, which consists of around 10k ships at its peak according to the interwebs.
Then you have the mass produced Star Wars equivalent, the Imperial Star Destroyer.
At the Empire's peak, they had 25k. And the two matched up like this:
And then on top of that, the Empire had flagship versions like this:

But could either of them stand against the endless might of 40K's Imperium?

I think ya'll may have it backwards?
I thought The Federation was more advanced due to being inter-galactic
I believe the Empire all is in one galaxy? Although those ships are massive they are not as advanced as the starships which can travel not just across a galaxy but across the universe?
I also could be wayyy off base and completely confused with my trek/wars underlying logic though
ETA: isn't Wars in the past and Trek in the future also?
