Chris Burkstaller at The Island
Andrew Lanahan at UC
Travis Coxe at Santa Maria

All 3 great teachers and have skill sets that are better suited for different skills of players. Chris would be great for beginners to average players. Andrew is great for your average to better than average player. Travis is more suited for your advanced players. Of the 3, Travis is a bit more technical.

I would not recommend golf tec. Would much prefer to not learn how to swing like a robot just to achieve "numbers" on a machine. Get out there on a real range and see real time results.

Good Luck!

Go to NOLA instead, and see Brian Manzella at English Turn. He's not cheap, but he's worth it if you really want to improve.

Make a day of it and go to Shreveport - David Toms 265 Academy - see Sean - it is legit and worth the time and money.

it ain't cheap but most good things aren't

Mike - he was working with advanced or skilled players only I thought.....good video series.

Ramos - wonder if she is still chasing the LPGA? I would play golf with her.

update - his video library shows plenty of lessons with high handicap golfers...

Take a ball and tee it up an inch in the middle of your stance with a six iron. Turn your right foot inward so your foot and knee are pointed at the bball. Take a half swing using only your hips to power it, don't put any arm into it.

Hit a bucket of balls doing this and it will give you the feeling of where your hips should be at impact. You will not be able to come over the top.

Manzella is legit. But I'd try the drill above first. A lot cheaper.

Gimme a drill to keep my left arm from going past parallel.

Place one ball on your front foot and a second ball about 4 inches behind it. Place a golf towel around your neck with a string tied to the end. Step on the string with your front foot so that it makes a line from your front shoulder down to your front foot.

Now swing and don't let your left arm go past parallel.

If your lower body movement is good, it really doesn't matter if you go past parallel. But, since it sounds like you're putting your arms into the swing too early as well, id recommend the same drill.

I know you get the video, but do you get any actual instruction?

I went and got my swing evaluated. He stayed in the room with for an hour going over my original swing piece by piece and breaking it down. then showed me a new stance and compared it to my old swing just one session has helped.

They do try to sell you on the next lesson they are a business, but don't think they are lazy and don't want to help.

Very expensive if you buy a package.

As a former college player and club pro, I'd recommend Rob Noel at Money Hill. He's the best and it's really not close.

I started going to Noel in college after seeing Chuck(LSU) for a year or so. Chuck was good, but Rob was better (to me).

Don't know if he's still around, but David Marchand was pretty good as well (if he's still around BR).

Who would you all recommend in the New Orleans area? I played a lot a long time ago, but have only played twice in the last 10 years.
I'm ready to get back into it and want to get a few lessons

Stop taking it back so far

ETA: honestly eat four double cheese burgers a day from Company Burger for two weeks. You will develop man boobs that prevent the left arm from moving past parallel

Not a substitute for a good live pro lesson, but rotaryswing.com was very helpful to me, teaching me the mechanics of the swing. It's very technical, if you're into that type of thing (which I am). It's a web site with many dozens of instructional videos, and you can film your swing and send to them for analysis. I believe the first month is free.

Craig Trahan is outstanding. Helped me tremendously. Go see him at Big Easy in Harahan.
