Does any OTers know about speeding tickets from photo enforcement from Baker? Received one for 8 over and it got lost in the mail. Now I owe the late fee.
What are my options and are these the same as the BTR redlight cameras?

I got two there. I wrote the Mayor and told him to stuff them up his butt. I had brought some employees into town for a function and they hit me with that crap. I will never spend another dime of company money in Baker city limits. BTW, got two or three threatening letters and nothing since.

Don't worry about paying it

Ignore the letters. If they put it against your credit file a dispute with the 3 major credit bureaus and it goes away. You never agreed to pay anything so they have no right to bill you.
Don't let people guilt you into paying it either. If they want to get my money pay for patrols so that at least someone local has a job. These cameras are managed by out of state companies that simply process the payment. The city gets like half of the fine.

Is this on LA-19 just north of Lavey Lane, or along other routes in Baker as well?
I only go to Baker on occasion when I visit home. Would hate to get a crap ticket while getting gas or heading to Zachary.

I got one from there and a few days before it was due my house flooded. I called a week later to the company up north who handles the payments and was told even though it now had a $150 late fee to pay and write a note explaining my situation. Well, a note was written back stating I owed the ticket and the late fee. Needless to say, I couldn't? care less about Baker.

I rec'd 2 photo tickets (15 min apart) from Baker last year.
I ignored the fines.
They added late fees.
Threatened to turn me over to collections.
Got a threatening letter from collections lawyer in like Wisconsin or something .
I never paid a dime. It did not affect my credit score & I stay away from Baker.

Some here - got two of them. Don't pay them a fricking dime. I speed through there on purpose now. The police are laid up eating donuts and they let a robot take a picture and send a bill to you from Arizona. frick them.

Got a ticket about 3 yeas ago in my company vehicle. People said, ahh don't pay it. Later got a notice from our fleet company to pay it AND the late fee. Sucked it up and paid it to make it go away. I will drive on fumes and hungry before stopping in Baker and spending any money. I know, don't speed, no ticket. They are birddogging...

don't pay it. It can't go on your credit report either because they don't have your social security number.

I've gotten 2 or 3 over the last few years. Shredded both tickets as soon as I got them and never heard anything again. frick Baker

Since it wasn't certified mail, how do they know I even received them? Also how would I search to see if they were filed on drivers license?

They're not. I got one a few years back. They'll send you letters from some out of state law office but eventually they realize you're not going to pay it and they stop. I've had my license renewed since and no issues. It's all just a money grab... if you don't pay nothing will happen to you.

I drive past both of them twice a day. Been hit a couple times. Never paid it. I slow down to 50 passing the cameras though. Do about 70 between them they really make you drive slow through Baker

They don't. They can't prove that the letter demanding payment was actually sent via mail since it was not registered or certified.

It's a civil offense. It is not reported to the DMV or your insurance company.

The tickets are issued against vehicles, not drivers.
In order to legally issue camera tickets, the towns that have them have to create a new class of violation equivalent to a non-moving violation so it can be issued against the vehicle. Otherwise anybody could say they weren’t driving at the time the ticket was issued.
Don’t pay it.

They have 4. Two normally on 19 just as you are getting out of town, one on 19 just past McDonalds and one on Plank Road. They have another that is a floater and apparently it’s on Baker Blvd now. The little tan suv is one. Black guy in a Dodge Ram is always working on them and I just honk and give him the finger.
I’ve not had any in a few years but I’ve had a few and never paid them.
