Father Charlie has some great things going at AHHS. I'm not catholic, so neither of my boys will attend. We are zoned for MHS and that is what we will do unless there's a new school built in madisonville before they get there.

I think both are pretty similar academics wise. St Pauls did recently start a robotics department and engineering department to better prepare the students for college. Not really sure how beneficial they are though.

The experiences at St Pauls are more personal than MHS. My MHS friends say it never even crosses their mind to go back and visit teachers/attend functions at their school whereas St Pauls has a huge alumni presence. Plenty of events that bring former students back (annual crawfish boil, jazz and roll, celeb waiters dinner, alum sporting events, golf tournaments, etc). I'd also say you are closer to people who aren't in your immediate friend group. I can't think of a single person in my graduating class that I wouldn't say hello to if I walked by them.

In the end, both schools will produce a solid kid so you decide if the close ties are worth the extra money.

I went to both. Liked MHS more because it was more relaxed. Honors at both schools is just about the same.

I saw St. Paul's almost get into a band fight with Karr at a Mardi Gras parade one time......trashy.

I have 2 at St. Pauls. I gave them the option to choose either St. Paul's or Mandeville. I have been very happy with their choice. Brother Ray is as good as it gets. There are activities to get involved with regardless of the kid's interests. Mandeville does have a complex because St. Paul's beats them in everything sports wise...haha.

If you graduate from St. Paul's he will recognize you in an instant even 10+ years after the fact. It's pretty amazing.

Ah man I forget that he's at St. Paul's. He really is the best - was at CHS (BR) for a couple years when I was a student there.

Mandeville. Good school, great sports programs, nice facilities. You can't go wrong at either, but why pay extra if you don't have to??

Hard to put a value on this

He recognized me 12 years after kicking me out in 9th grade. His stare can make anyone break down and cry. Doesn't have to say a word.

I saw Coach Mauldin something like 10 years after getting the boot, and he recognized me. Spent damn near every Saturday listening to the same stories over and over again. Pretty sure he thought I was the underdog and would start behaving eventually. I had other plans.

They did let me keep my grades even though I was let go halfway through the year. I was very appreciative of that

Graduated from st pauls, aside from the multiple tools with jacked up trucks that their parents bought them, huge egoes and dickish personalities, the education is good

Either school will give you a good education I just think that SPS will help to make them better men. The things that we value at home are reinforced at school.

St. Paul's is a great school. I'm still close to my friends from SPS twenty plus years later.

St. Paul's might as well be sponsored by snap on the way they turn out tools. And that's coming from a Jesuit guy who's well aware of his school's reputation.
