We need both, but we need a new coach worse, because after what you saw with Simmons and Q...kids see that, people talk. Need regime change to get good players even thinking about coming here.

Apparently he has no pride, and hasn't been held accountable for malfeasance in executing his assigned duties. He can very easily be out there on the court side next year as well.

Lets talk about what happens if Coach Jones does not return next year?

Nope. Don't dodge the question--what happens if he stays?

but recruits have to know that this is mostly on the players.

Recruits know Ben Simmons. And they know what happened with Ben Simmons. You're really grasping at straws.

That ain't never going to happen! Coaches don't just walk away from multi million dollar contracts and neither would you .

Exactly he was less than a year removed from an appearance in the title game. The biggest difference is he cares about his players above all and the direction of the program unlike Jones who's top priority is BBQs at Collis and Dales.

Ryan wasn't going to be fired. There were a number of different things in play in that situation that's not going on here at LSU.

I did get tired of seeing was the team getting ahead and then allowing the opposition to go on a run from which LSU could never recover. I am hoping that the Ga. game is the end of that flaw.

chin man

you don't comprehend what you typed.

"allowing the other team to go on a run". that is bogosity. nothing like that happens.

each score is independent. at no time does the LSU teams say, let them score the next few times down.

the other team played too.

take a break from sports. nothing you post makes sense.

you are the single worst poster on the Tiger Rant site unless we have to count the asswipes who only post to piss people off. no wait, are you one of those?

Exactly which makes Jones doing it even easier for him. He should want to go out with class and dignity not be forced out. You know daddy Dale is gonna take care of him. Wasnt Jones some sort of big wig in Louisiana's AAU program also? He can go back to doing that.

Something good will come of it. JJ will be fired. Now we can hope for something real special and hope that Alleva goes down with him.

Does he lose money by resigning vs getting fired? If so, it is no wonder he is still coaching. No brainer.

bingo

if he resigns, JJ forfeits a remaining portion of his contract

if LSU fires him, they will owe him part of the buyout

Aleva and the University took so much flack from the National media during the Les Miles fiasco last year and this year, that the University will not fire Jones until the season is over

We played a team with much better talent close. The team never quit. That is good coaching. This has been a terrible year for Tiger basketball and I just hope something good comes out of it here at the end.
Something good will come out of it. The most incompetent HC in the history of LSU Athletics will be fired.

Jones has been here 5 years and that's it. What you see is what you get.

Doesn't take that long to build a college basketball program. It will not get any better with another year. Time and the gig is up.

LSU Alums/Fans demand change. The PMAC is a barren cave..................

I agree with the initial post in this topic. JJ is a liability at this point.

The only big criticism I have of Coach Jones was the decision not to participate in the NIT last year.

It's far from a given that LSU would have been invited to the NIT last year even if we hadn't "decided" not to go if we were. Even if we had been invited and had played, Ben Simmons wasn't going to play and this year has shown us how that would have turned out. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if that were the very reason we did that, to avoid the embarrassment of being spurned or embarrassing ourselves with a blowout first-round loss in a season in which we were expected to be a cinch for the NCAA and possible contender in the SEC.

"Want to go out with class"

He probably wants to go out with all the money due him from the contract he and LSU agreeded to.
