update on the Catholic Wedding changes

Couldn't find the thread from yesterday. Must have been wacked. Talked to my old priest last night and he said that yes the changes I had on the letter were correct. However, he stated most priests thought they were silly and were not following the new rules. Daughter moved the wedding to his church. So... All you guys who stated that it was just the priest being difficult were right for the most part. Still makes you wonder why the rules were sent out in the first place. And they wonder why so many people are leaving the church.

I started to google "changes to catholic weddings" to see what he was talking about, then realized I don't really give a frick.

Typical Catholic church stuff.
"We're going to enforce the rules we want to, when we want to. Please make the check out to 'cash'."

This seems pretty boring with no context. I'll bet it's even boringer with context.

It's not possible for someone to embrace the catholic faith and yet choose to leave the Church based on largely meaningless rules such as those you referenced.

Your original post is strange:
1. There is no such thing as "the North American Bishops council;" and
2. It was really easy to google the changes to the wedding ceremony announced last year and it's minor stuff that doesn't cover any of your complaints.

paper said it was a decision from the North American Bishops council on behalf of the Vatican. Supposedly the rules started on 2/1. Asked the priest and he verified that is the new rules going forward and that he couldn't make any exceptions. I actually left the Catholic church some times back due to my frustration with it, but my daughter still attends.

I just read your OP in the last thread, and I haven't heard of any of those rules.

I think you are confusing a specific Catholic Church's policy with The Catholic Church's (the religion) policy on the sacrament of marriage.
Many NO Catholic churches have policies like the ones you mentioned. On the other hand, ther are many NO Catholic Churches that do not.
