Don't pay $800k for a women's basketball coach. I get that is Caldwell is not the highest paid coach in the SEC, but paying $800k is just a poor return on investment.

Unlike Men's BB, it makes more fiscal sense to go with a cheap up and comer hire in Women's BB. It's not sexist to say that women's sports aren't going to be big money-makers (if money-makers at all). There just isn't enough demand for the product from fans or television networks. It doesn't make a ton of sense to throw a lot of money at an unprofitable product. Unfortunately in the world we live in today fiscal sense takes a back seat to feelings and the unreasonable need for "equality" in every aspect.

Rational people understand that women's athletics isn't a profitable business. Thus, the justification for spending a ton of money on that business isn't there. Unfortunately, rational thinking is a fading concept these days

See Ell's post at the top of the thread.

It doesn't matter. It's the law. There is no way around it.

They lost 2.67 million last year

I'd imagine Gymnastics, baseball, and maybe softball made money and everything else lost.

Gymnastics lost 2.1 million and softball lost 2 million

Softball, gymnastics and volleyball are very watchable.

The point is that LSU has to adhere to Title IX law regardless of whether a sport is profitable or not. That's the reason for some of the seemingly inexplicable expenditures on women's sports.

We know about Title IX. Looking for creativity. A couple of good ideas like softball ad signs and beer sales have been brought up.

Drop out of d-1 for all sports except football, softball and baseball and women track.

Offer womens track scholarships equal football count.

Club sports for all else.
Will be IND for d-1 sports.

An average high school boys basketball team would beat the ever living shite out of Uconn

Repeal Title IX. But that ain't gonna happen.

I think this Beach Volleyball thing will generate some interest (TV money).

Uconn could not beat a team of decent male athletes

The reflexes. The burst.

My gf was ark all state.
I was gym rat.

She challenged me to game, one on one.

1. She never missed.
2. I won. She could not put the ball on the floor for three dribbles without me stealing it or knocking it away and i had clean blocks.

She won horse. Swish. Repeat.

beer sales

I worked concessions while I was a student for extra money during spring. Never softball, but for women's basketball it seemed like most fans were old, lesbians or dads taking young daughters. You want to get the rest of the people that are filling up football and baseball games, maybe selling beer isn't a bad idea.

We can let Carly Hoover pitch to Alex Bregman at halftime of a football game to help promote softball.

They should probably capitalize on the current popularity of the Women's Gymnastics team. Charge more for the tickets, parking, and merchandising.

and sell beer!

Raise the ticket prices for gymnastics. They have a great following. Raise it 5 bucks a ticket instead of giving those things away.

Other than that, quit the Bahamas trips.

Re buying women's season tickets, there was a push a few years ago, from TAF/LSU A.Dept., strongly "asking" for TAF members who had season tickets in men's sport, to pitch in & buy women's sports season tickets as well. That project did not go over too well & there was significant push back.

LSu softball is the second best program behind football AS OF NOW. make cuts elsewhere if needed. i will gladly pay more for softball at LSU or ULL. It is the best women's sport.

obviously increased attendance would help but the tickets are cheap

Since the tickets are cheap, perhaps you could purchase a block of 25 or so tickets for each sport.
