Democracy is probably the worst of all political mechanisms when the electorate has polar ideological allegiances. People indeed have the option of nullifying the legitimate authority of the *elected* Government, if they believe said Government/Administration is essentially immoral.
The election of Trump put the Left in a corner; either they shut him down...or they lose for decades to come. Like the Islamists, if they truly believe in the higher morality of their cause...the issue now becomes how far are they willing to go to promote it.
It is "coming fast", because the Left/Globalist RINOS have a small window to stop Trump.

They learned from the last 2 World Wars. If we are united and pick a side, that side wins. Best way to neutralize that is to divide us.

That's part of it. What's happening is a continual media blitz of negative news (sometimes made up) concerning Trump and his administration unlike anything we've ever seen within the first month of any Presidency. The last time I saw it this bad was during the Clinton years and that was mainly due to Lewinsky and his Impeachment (in other words, toward the end of his second term).
This constant tirade of negative stories (especially the fake ones) is prepping for the 2018 elections to help give Dems a majority in at least one chamber of Congress. The best thing Trump can do right now is focus heavily on getting as much of his agenda pushed through between now and then (much like the Dems did with the ACA and the Stimulus from Jan 2009 until late 2010).

Our nation is deeply divided between diametrically opposed ideologies. The only long term recourse I see for reconciliation is a geopolitical division. Trump should withhold federal funding to sanctuary cities/states like California and support peaceful succession. It's time to move our separate ways before the division leads to chaos.
