I know there's no sarcasm font, but I thought the sarcasm was pretty obvious.

Because Demps has been trading picks or rookies for young vets from the moment he got here. It's not like every single trade was a fail, but 6 years later I can't say I see the improvement this strategy is providing vs. using the picks. I also am uncertain who they should use the picks on and I think Demps doesn't know either.
Our 2 best 4 man lineups by NetRtg are
Holiday/Hill/Cunningham/AD - 12.8 NetRtg
Holiday/Hill/Jones/AD - 9.0 NetRtg
If those are your 2 best 4 man units, who's the 5th guy you add to them to make them better? I don't think a center is the answer to that question but that appears to be what we are trying very hard to trade for.

How many days can Oakfor keep shaking hands with people? It's like the 7th day now...

it would take a very particular 5. part of the reason Noel made some sense to me; he can switch on defense and has passing skills to help on offense. still a shaky fit
basically, they need another unicorn to pair with their own unicorn in Davis, which is an impossible goal
if part of this center push is Davis's unwillingness to play the 5, they should seriously think about moving him this summer
eta- and i thought for a long time they could pull a Spurs w/ Duncan + Nesterovic/Oberto. the league has changed too much for that, i think

Noel makes a lot more sense than these other guys

Has anything come up with this or is Jahlil staying in Philly?
I thought I read something earlier that said we have a better shot trading for Brook Lopez bc the nets are coming down on their price

Jrue is going to walk, regardless.

Well as I looked closer at their twitter feed, looks like they are just talking about a new article on Jrue tomorrow
Carry on

Pels have two second rounders in 2017 draft. Expect to have less of them after the deadline.
Dell is working not only on 'big' deals...
More cryptic, agree :)

Basically an impossibility. If we trade him, we won't have sufficient cap space to resign him.

the type of 5 that fits into the 4 man lineup ATL posted isnt going to be cheap.
since they appear to be eager to get a name brand 5, they can move for a better contract but a worse fit...a la Okafor/Vucevic. or pay handsomely for a better fit at that spot.
they put themselves into this corner and refuse (for myriad reasons) to patiently work themselves out of it

I don't know how many perfect fits there are in the league and/or are coming into the league, though. The best you might hope for is a "good enough" fit. Which is why I can see the interest in Lopez
I mean, he is basically a super rich mans version of Ajinca and they just beat Memphis with that kind of center. Imagine if Ajinca was a good passer, didn't foul as much, and did everything he already does on offense 400% better. The fact that Lopez has to be respected out to 25 feet would open up all kinds of room for everyone
I get acquiring him for all those reasons. I get Vucevic for the rebounding element and an offensive game that is 200% of Ajinca and that has to be respected out to 18 feet. I can not and will not understand how Okafor helps though, unless they are moving Jones in a subsequent trade and he is essentially filling that role

Lopez may be the most talented of the targets but his cap figure is going to make it hard to add a $15+ million FA and have enough solid depth. It won't be quite as bad as the year they made the playoffs only after adding DC/QPon/Peak Norris Cole, but it will be a similarly top heavy roster to start the season.
Okafor may not be a great fit, but he is cheap if it doesn't work out and as you've long said, Dell's biggest problem is his optimism bias.
Vucevic seems to be the best mix of talent upgrade while not killing your cap so much that you can't have 8-10 NBA caliber players on your roster to start the season.
I really don't think a center is the answer to that question. What a 4 man unit of Holiday/AD/Hill and either DC/Jones is missing is another wing. Give me a guy that can score/create and play passable defense to add to those 4. The crazy thing is Tyreke checks so many of those boxes, it's a shame he couldn't adapt better.

Bingo.
If Asik could do his job, he'd suffice.
Kyle O'Quinn is exactly what AD needs at center. If there's a trade for a center, it should be for him.
There are tons of centers still on rookie deals that would more than suffice. That's all that is needed.
I've been talking about Kevin fricken Seraphin for almost 3 years now. He's cheap as could be, and would serve his purpose of guarding centers and playing minimal minutes. He's nothing special, and won't cause us to win more games by himself, but he's cheap, can guard a center for 15 minutes a game, and allows us to spend money on wings instead of bigs.

Look- you are talking to the guy who wants to go with DMo and Joffrey next year. You don't have to sell me. I'm just trying to do it from their POV. And Okafor makes zero sense to me unless you get him for expirings and maybe a second
