I've heard the last few days that they are bad, but I didn't realize they were that bad. That is insane. How are they taken seriously?

Again, so no other people are confused, it varies year to year and it only involves cases that the SCOTUS actually takes. The SCOTUS takes less than 1% of the cases that come out of the 9th circuit each year, and even then, they are usually only taking them because they want to reverse them.

ETA: The SCOTUS has lately been reversing a ton of qualified immunity (immunity for officers who violate your rights) and environmental cases out of that circuit. The 9th likes to hold police accountable for fricking with citizens rights; the Supreme Court? Not so much.

They are one of the largest circuits and only a marginal amount of their cases by the Supreme Court.

The vast majority of their rulings stand

Nah lefties here say that the high percentage is misleading bc they have a high number of cases.

What are the % of reversals of the other circuit courts?

Do you understand why cases go to the Supreme Court? 99.8% of the 9th circuit's decisions aren't even reviewed.

at all of the legal experts on this board contorting themselves in order to make excuses why the 9th Circuit's reversal rate at the SCOTUS is not relevant.

Scotus blog has district score cards listed on their site, you should check them out. The 11th has had all their decisions that were considered reversed the past 2 years. Two sessions ago scotus overturned 72% overall with the 9th at 68%. Last year 9th was at 80% with total at 67%. State courts were overturned at 85% rate last year. It's important to get "inside the numbers" and not just fall for shiny objects.

When I was involved in counter narcotic operations, all our cases were held in the 11th (Tampa). They were very friendly to Federales. This included seizures made right off Baha. It was far above my pay grade on how those cases were always held in the 11th without geographic considerations of the actual interdictions.

It's just one of many reasons why our divided nation should be divided geopolitically. Let the Left Coast do it's thing while the Heartland carries on with American tradition.
