R6 Siege | Operation Velvet Shell Kicks Off Year 2 (of many more?)

First off, if you aren't playing Rainbow 6 Siege, you are missing out. This game is phenomenal.
Second off, Year 2 has just kicked off with Operation Velvet Shell and two new operators--Jackal and Mira--and a new map--Coastline--set in Ibiza, Spain.
The attacker, Jackal, is equipped with three choices for main weapon--an assault rifle (C7E), a shotgun (ITA12L) and a 50-round PDW (PDW9). His specialty is what's called an Eyenox, or a purple light worn on his helmet that can detect footprints. The footprints give clues through Jackal's Eyenox, being shaded from red to yellow to blue, on how recent they are and can even be examined to show the location of which operator left them behind. Jackal is also equipped with an ITA12S short barrel shotgun or an USP40 pistol as his sidearm. Jackal also gets breaching charges or stun grenades.
The defender, Mira, comes equipped with the Vector .45 ACP SMG or the ITA12L shotgun. Her specialty is a breaching charge that can be placed on reinforced or unreinforced walls. The breaching charge will detonate and create a hole the size of the charge and expel a one-way, bullet proof glass panel. Operators on the inside of this glass can see out, but the operators on the outside cannot see through the glass. There is a small canister that can be shot out that will explode the glass so that fire can be exchanged between operators. Mira's secondary weapons again are the ITA12S short barrel shotgun and the USP40 pistol. She comes equipped with a deplorable shield or a nitro cell for defense.
The developers have also added weapon skins and a slicker menu system.
Interesting note...the developers of Siege were asked if they intend to add game modes and their response was intriguing. Long story short, they say they don't intend to add new modes but instead they will continue to support the game for 5-10 years with new operators (between 50-100) and by doing this, change the meta of the game which will keep it fresh.

I have never played it and won't but it is either 40% off or 50% off right now on PSN. Ubisoft sale going on.
Just a heads up.

It is worth a purchase, although I haven't played recently. The gaming crew changes games constantly.

Tried it when it was free over the weekend. One of my friends has it so I bought it since it was on sale. Wish it had a few more game types and let you pick what you want to play (unless I'm just missing it) but the gameplay is really fun. Haven't done a terrorist hunt with more than 2 people yet so looking forward to getting more into it

Was a great game for the first 3-4 months out the gate. After that it dropped off quickly for me personally. Would definitely be open and interested in an R7 with some minor tweaks here and there, but the re-playability factor just isn't there for me anymore. No matter how many updates they come out with for this edition.

Had hoped to play last night but my download took way too long... Hopefully I will be able to get on tonight.

You are definitely free to your own opinion. But I think the re-playability is unlimited as no game is the same.

Downloaded it last night. Couldn't pass up the $25 price tag. Tried playing today but servers have been down most of the day on PS4. Definitely takes time to get used to. Especially fresh off playing The Division the last few weeks.

Best DLC of the year!
Do we have enough for a 5 man squad on PS4 here?

Me, you, sad banana... not sure on anyone else.
Had Mira in the garage on consulate. She's a game changer. Especially if you have a mute. You can see when thermite is abou to hit a charge.

Mira and Jackal are both game changing operators. I think Jackal's Eyenox is OP, but it they are constantly evolving the game so I'm sure it will undergo some tinkering.
PS4 servers have been a wreck since Velvet Shell. We'll see if they can fix it.

Odd. I feel like it's much easier to get in a game since velvet shell

Have it on ps4, haven't played in a while. Have a mic, am on most nights after 9. I'm down to join in

I agree, I haven't had many problems but again I haven't played as much as I would have liked. The R6 Twitter feed has been posting "We are experiencing problems with PS4" tweets since Velvet Shell and they still can't figure it out.
The more I play with the new operators the more I think they are the best in the game. They are incredible and change the game for the better. Great work by Ubi.

I want rainbow six to go back to the Vegas style. I liked Vegas and Vegas 2 better than Siege. Siege is a really good game though.

I would like Siege to create a domination or TDM game mode that opened up every map to the interiors and exteriors AND have respawns.
I don't know if the meta of the game supports that, though. But the gun mechanics are so good I feel like they could support a game mode like that, but at the same time the game has such a competitive scene that they might not mess with it very much at all.
They did say they want to support the game for up to 5-10 years and have 50-100 operators.
