Agreed. But, probably didn't make a difference.

Yeah I didn't get that move at all. The only reason I can see is to have a definite steady income with membership fees but people not join clubs anymore.

While this sucks, I saw this coming a mile away. I live about 5-10 minutes from the course and what they would charge was ridiculous, especially being located in Mathews. I can drive a few extra miles and play at TPC for cheaper.

Fancy expensive golf course with a couple of trailers for a club house.

LaTour gone, and Old Willowdale about to be turned into housing I'm left with the crowned jewel of Flagville- Fashion. Time to give up golf and fish more.

Ormond is $150 a month golf membership. That includes the cart. You get charged $30 a month to restaraunt so it's really $180 but you can use that to buy beer, doesn't have to be food.

All of the golf courses in south central La are struggling. None are guaranteed to survive. Here is a story on Grand Ridge (formerly Willowdale) efforts.
Golf in general is in decline. The local economy is just compounding the issue.

The economy is not the issue why Grand Ridge is closing.

It's too bad. Love the course and there were none in the area in better shape consistent like latour.

I wonder how many people made the opposite drive? La Tour is an easy drive from Metairie & the West Bank. The course is nice enough to pull people from a more populated area looking to play a different course, especially if it isn't crowded. Do people from outside the area even know the course exists?

This isn't true. Louisiana golf has always been terrible. The state being in a recession is hurting it even more

Closing in 2 weeks. Ole Schouest going belly up on this one.
Really? This was one of my favorite courses to play. They went private about a year ago and that seemed like a bad move at the time. What really sucks is that Sugarland is a goat ranch.

It's been rumored for about three months now. Can't believe he bought the course thinking it would make money.
Guess it's losing more money than planned. Sad to see it go.
