well you could always go to the dealership (or call) and pay them exactly what they are asking. They won't dick around with you at all, if you are willing to pay the sticker price. It seems to work well in grocery stores, clothing stores, etc. You don't haggle over the price of a six pack or your athletic shoes, do you? No, you simply pay what is asked. You have the same option with dealerships.

I don't find buying vehicles difficult at all.

I find what I want and tell them what I'm willing to pay out the door for it. Don't care about how they break that price down. I'm willing to spend or finance X to leave with said vehicle. If you don't want to or can't sell it for X, that's fine. Call me if you change your mind and best of luck selling it.

2nd to last time I did that, the sales guy jumped on it

You win some and lose some.

That's actually not a bad thing at all. Have a few of each type of vehicle for test drives and to look at.

Right, but in this case the dealership still has the overhead of paid salesmen. If the price isn't negotiable, there's no need for salesmen at all, in which case the price of the vehicles should drop

Eta: there's no need for salesmen at all in the current system. All they do is take you on a test drive and relay info from the finance manager. Let me pick out a car myself and deal directly with a finance manager.

Used car dealerships in Texas have adopted the high volume/low price model. Very easy to buy from them

Some are bad and some are tolerable. Brian Harris Audi wasn't a total headache to deal with.

Their service department was total crap for me and that happened a few times, at least for BMW. I'd like to know which BR dealerships have good service departments.

Apparently i was mistaken. Oh well.

I will say the last two cars i bought was a really simple buying process. Researched for months, got financed ahead of time, found the car color combo i wanted, then out of the dealership in under an hour.

Its only hard if you want it to be or you work with a terrible dealership. Never be afraid to walk away and get dealerships to compete with each other.

I kinda indirectly work in industrial sales. It's so difficult to talk to most car salesmen when you're used to talking to people who actually know their product and market.

Do your research on whatever vehicle you want to buy. Compare prices from different dealerships, print out the cheapest price you find, take to dealership.. If they are selling the vehicle for more than the price you have, tell them you are not paying anymore than that price. If they don't sell it to you, you will go to the next dealership.

They want to keep you there as long as possible because the longer you are there, the more likely you are to make the purchase.. The salesman will make you feel as if you are bargaining. If you give them a price, they will go "talk to their boss" then say the lowest they can go is $xxxxx.xx. They will make you feel like you got them down to as low as they are able to go. They want people to think they are getting the best deal possible..

The best way to fight it is to go in, tell them exactly what you want, don't let them tell you "what you need". Show them the price you will pay. If you don't get it at that price you will go somewhere else are not make a purchase at the time. They would rather make the sell.

For only 84 months at that

After dealing with dealerships in Texas I don't think I'll ever talk to another one in the BR area. Those guys in Texas are good about understanding how you want to approach the purchase. The salesmen I've dealt with in BR were terrible. Ignorant of the product and completely unable to understand that I'm not haggling shite. The deal is you sell it to me for X or you don't sell it to me. They have no power to make an actual decision.
