also have told them don't bother calling until you get this exact vehichle for this price.

Did that work? Unless I am absolutely sure I am purchasing from that specific dealership I don't give them my number, but I made the mistake of giving a saleswoman my email address on some BS form she asked me to fill out. She told me "at least put down your email and when I get more information I will let you know". For at least a month, that bitch would send me an email (not including weekends). The email was sent at the same time every morning.. 7:35AM.

The first email she sent she told me that while they currently do not have what I was looking for she would be more than happy to assist me with any other type of vehicle (I went there looking for information on Toyota's ramp van and it should have been obvious to her that I would have no interest in any other type of vehicle).

I replied to the first email.. Telling her I appreciated her time, but I had no interest in purchasing anything else..

The next day, she replies. She asked if I knew anyone who was interested in purchasing a Toyota vehicle and if so to please recommend them to her. I didn't reply back, but for about a month straight (not on weekends) that bitch sent me an email. I stopped reading them, but it was as if she was trying to pressure me to get people to go see her. I wanted to see at what point would she give up. Like I mentioned, it went on for about a month.. The emails eventually stopped, but then for awhile, every few weeks she would send one then finally stopped. But those frickers are relentless.

Went to Lamarque Ford and I was in there 10 minutes and realized they are a bunch of nimrods.

Got TX pricing from them relatively pain free, and more for my trade than I would have in TX. I'd recommend them, at least the guy I dealt with. He knew that I knew what I was looking at and nothing he said would sell me, he just got me the price I wanted.

I would never do business with them. One of their sales people lied to me about the price on a car (said the price he gave me, which was a few hundred more than it was advertised for online mind you, was selling it at a loss for them). I told him don't do that BS with me, you don't stay in business advertising vehicles at a loss. He said I'm not lying. I told him I don't do business with liars, good day. I got a phone call from his GM, and he's like "so and so is one of the most honest people I know and he'd never lie." I replied well he did, don't call me again. GM sends me 3 text messages. fricking clown show of an operation they run there.

I know someone that travels for work, and basically gets a new car every year. He uses the same salesman, and buys the same type car. The salesman calls him when he can get that car at a certain price. My buddy has done this so long, he basically is only out a few grand with the trade in.

It's not bad at all usually as long as you let them know where you stand up front.

Maybe you misread the advertised price. Seems like you just cocked an attitude to show the big balls to those men.

Nope.

Also nope.

ETA: And even if that had happened, the GM harassing me via text is completely ridiculous. I've never encountered that kind of treatment in my experience with car dealers.

Secure outside financing before going look at vehicles.

Simplifies process drastically

You're gonna get a better rate and/or deal by using the manufacturers financing.

Getting outside financing is like walking in with cash. Don't forget the dealers get a taste of the financing if you go thru them, and are willing to sell the car for a little less.

can someone give me the skinny on TrueCar?

The dealers love it. Works out better for them than it does for you.

Look how you were talking them. Basically dog cussing them and calling theme liars. I don't blame the GM for trying to straighten it out.

Tesla and True Car have already done this.

I guess you've never heard of the term paraphrasing.

In his defense, car salesmen do a terrible job with that aspect of it. Don't tell people you'd be selling at a loss. You aren't. Tell the customer you're going to hang on to it to try and get better margins on it because you are paid commission on margin and you'll be calling back if you change your mind.

Of course it's easy for me to say because I'm sure the majority of people they deal with are jacking them around and not going to buy shite which would piss me off too, but you don't have to make up shite.

I said that very politely and asked for him to not do that. I gave him an opportunity to drop the act and perhaps earn my business. He chose not to.

I had zero issues buying my car. I test drove all the vehicles in the class I was looking at, did further research, and found the one I wanted. I went to TrueCar and a couple other sites (Will Cover approved!) to see the going rate, and put a dollar amount that I wanted to pay, and one I would pay. I went back to the dealer and negotiated.

I got the vehicle for far less than I had been ready to pay, and got on with my life. I was stressed out about the process but thanks to Will Cover I feel like I got a great car at a great price. Veterans Ford really made me happy.

I hear you man. Just don't blame a guy for defending his team when a guy is on the lot calling them liars and putting on a show.

I don't see how they would stay in business very long if they were lying and baiting and switching on the price.

Tell us how you really feel man

A shitty car salesman is a terrible thing. Fortunately for you, they have a car and you have money. They want the money more than the car. That's about all there is to it.

I ain't mad at a guy trying to get his and I don't mind people making money off of me. Just don't let me catch you bullshitting me.

Neither do I. Doesn't change the fact that it happened in this instance.
