Where is everyone staying for the game in Houston vs. BYU? Trying to find an affordable hotel.

Houston hotels are vacant on weekends. You'll be fine. Search close to stadium and go out from there.

Don't stay right around the stadium. It's a dump

Hyatt Regency Downtown is nice and about a 10 min ride to stadium and the hotel runs a shuttle to and from NRG stadium

There will be plenty of threads like this between now and the game, but I do agree with those who tell you not to stay right around the stadium. I recommend staying downtown.

Springhill Suites on Old Spanish Trail is close. Decent hotel and generally reasonable in price.

Stayed at Crowne Plaza for Texas Bowl. It's not a 5 star but not a dump as others have said. Was able to walk to and from game and used Uber to get around to eat/drink. Not the best area in the city by any means but it was good enough, affordable, and we had a fantastic time with hundreds of other Tiger fans in the hotel bar.

I'd rather stay outside and have a little drive. Pearland is one of my preferences. It's mine may not be yours but the ladies are content with all the places to shop

THIS!!

Lots of people will suggest staying downtown because teh NRG area is shady. Just a warning, it will be a cluster F$$$ trying to get back downtown after the game. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza last time & will do again.

I second Hyatt Regency Downtown. Catch the metrorail to and from the game. Avoid traffic, parking, and the need for a designated driver. Getting back after the game is not a clusterfrick if you take the rail. There is a train coming every ten minutes.

Will the light rails be the most efficient way to get back downtown after the game?

There will likely be a lot of people trying to hop on the train, but the line moves fairly quickly. It's most likely faster than having to deal with getting out of a parking lot and the traffic heading north.
