Hmm...not a good start for Willie Taggart. Hope none of this ends up being serious.

Multiple Oregon football players have been hospitalized as a result of intense strength and conditioning workout

Oregon players, who have been under the guidance of new head coach Willie Taggart for just over a month, continued to participate in the same workouts this week. Per The Oregonian, those workouts have been compared to basic military training, including “up to an hour of continuous push-ups and up-downs.” Oregon’s strength coach is Irele Oderinde, who came over to the school from USF with Taggart.

Poutasi’s mother, Oloka, said that her son complained of very sore arms after the workouts and had been diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis, a syndrome in which soft muscle tissue is broken down with “leakage into the blood stream of muscle contents,” according to the NCAA medical handbook. Depending on the severity, it has the potential to lead to damaged kidneys.

Probably just trying to trim some of the fat from the roster.

Worst part of rhabdo is you can't wipe your own arse.

I thought Iowa had this happen a few years ago and it never developed into a scandal or anything.

Willie identifying the soft ones. He has to completely turn around the mentality of that program.
I thought the hire was strange. You go from full on spread to a guy who wants to run 3 TE sets. For his sake, I hope they give him time.

rhabdomyolysis is serious and has nothing to do with being weak

Considering that it's doubtful this was the entire workout, that's stupid. Make em run/work til they puke, not til their muscles start leaking blood.

It's not muscles leaking blood, it's muscle tissue entering the blood stream. Pretty serious.

Or it has to do with previously being lazy in the gym and then starting intense workouts for multiple weeks

This can't be that much more intense than the workouts he did at previous coaching stops.

It doesn't have anything to do with being lazy. rhabdo was pretty much nonexistent prior to these crossfit style workouts.
