And what happens to those jobs in S. Car. when the Mex. plant goes online?
What happened to the Ind. jobs when the Carrier plant was to open?

The BMW X3 has always been the only U.S. built BMW. It's a German company so DJT really has no leverage here. It's also the worst built BMW you can buy so who cares.

I'll check in from time to time. I'm eagerly awaiting Notre Dame guy to come back and explain how Mexico is going to put a hurt on the US ag business. That one should be good reading.
A country that lost nearly 2 million ag jobs because of NAFTA isn't going to turn around and carve that back? That caused riots and political turmoil (and an eventual flood of ag workers to the U.S. and many others turning to illegal products to stay afloat)? Our third-largest food export market?
Prices would be higher in the U.S. because labor isn't going to be as cheap. Dollar still strong. Exports can fall elsewhere in that case.
What are we going to do? Stack more corn subsidies and continue to flood their market?
On the plus side, all those destitute farmers might not be growing op and weed to make a buck any longer.

Someone help me out on this. I've heard that you need congress to pass a tax on imports. How is trump going to get this done with all of the big money lobbyist in congress?

This would be one of the minor things we could, and probably would do.
Do you really think US food prices would be that much higher due to the higher cost of labor? I think, using corn since you brought that up, very little labor is involved now. Farms are pretty high tech.
Explain to me exactly how US food prices would skyrocket, and farmers wouldn't start importing beef inputs from South America. Which they have done, and some do now.
Let's turn that around. NAFTA hurt the Mexican ag industry. A variety of reasons for that. What real impact did this have on the US farmer or consumer? Some cite price swings in commodity. They cite it. They never really connect it to NAFTA. If that's what you're trying to do, connect this for me with some sort of empirical data. Not just data that shows price swings, but shows how NAFTA caused these. It's unprovable, and it's not like this didn't exist before NAFTA.
Yeah, they will try to negotiate, but their small farmer is mostly gone, so that would be interesting. Corporate farmers against corporate farmers. They lost labor, we didn't pick up a decreased cost of farm labor. That is another fallacy that can't be proven. We picked up tehir cheap labor. We already had it. Show me where farm labor costs decreased significantly, and show me where NAFTA caused this.
And the 1996 Farm bill had no impact either. A lot of people write about farmers and NAFTA, and I haven't seen one separate the farm bill impact form NAFTA's impact. Mostly they exaggerate NAFTA's impact and never mention the 1996 bill. No crop speculation either as interest rates got crushed.
Anyway, show me how Mexico renegotiates NAFTA in a realistic manner, and this has any type of significant impact on American ag.

They are building a plant in mexico to build cars that will be sold in the US.
This is how you negotiate. Before Trump, the only negotiating would be how badly the American citizen is going to get fricked in the arse
