If you don't need to compare LSU to other SEC teams, then why do you feel the need to compare them to SEC teams in other sports?
Not a single fricking person has ever stated that this basketball program can/should be like baseball or football. However, if you don't think you can be consistently better you simply are ignorant.

So I guess in football if we were 11-0 going into the SEC championship and lost, but we still had the best conference record, we should be considered the best amirite?

The proof is in the pudding frick face. We have been consistently shitty. Sure, hire whatever coach you want. Fire Jones. It won't change anything. Football is the way it is and so is basketball. LSU and Bama, OSU, Michigan, Florida St, USC. I could go on and on. Its not like the landscape is going to change in the next decade. The snowball has long been in effect.
The same goes for hoops. Kentucky, Duke, UNC, Kansas, Michigan St, Florida, UCLA ,Louiville. The landscape isn't changing anytime soon.

You act like LSU is in a slump basketball wise. This is par for the course. We are the vanderbilt of basketball in the SEC. It doesn't matter who we hire. It will always be this way. Do you see Vandy becoming a huge powerhouse in football anytime soon? Do you see them pulling a top 5 class anytime soon? I didn't think so.

It is rather perplexing and mysterious that we can't get a basketball program that can at least compete in the SEC. It's easy to blame Alleva (there is a great deal of circumstantial evidence), but I'm not sure. Regardless, LSU deserves a better athletic program. For too long we've lived off of faded memories and hope. I think it's time to win a couple of championships.

you must be very young, because LSU was very relevant for about 15 straight years from the late 70s- early 90s. Conference championships, Final Fours, Sweet Sixteens -- we were consistently relevant on the national scene. And can be again with the right coach.
Remember that basketball isn't like football, where you need dozens of top players. In basketball, get 2 studs, surround them with 5 solid role players, and you're there.

How about you go look at how many players each of these schools have made an NBA team in the last 10 years and compare that to LSU and then explain to me why we are no where near the conversation as them.
