Gym is crowded today, but mostly cardio and machines. Free weights not so much.

Perfect. People getting their fitness on.

Buy a rack, a bench, and some weights and lift at home. You'll save money in the long run

Easier said than done. No room at my house. Would need to build a shed or add on.

I work at a gym and this is my least favorite time of year. Not because of the influx of people. It is great seeing people try to get healthy. The extra money is nice, but it's so obnoxious to hear the regulars complain about all of the resolutioners like they are the scum of the earth. Just because you have been going to the gym 3-5 times a week for the last few years doesn't make you any more entitled to the equipment than someone who just signed up and may only go for a few weeks/months.

It's not the new years people that bother me. I love seeing them there. It's the teenage flocks that come in and talk and hog equipment.

How are they new people any more annoying than the ones who need to take pictures in front of the mirrors.

Or do a set, walk around listening to music, grab water, chit chat, then come back and do another set 5 minutes later.... Yet if you ask them if you can use, "I'm using that.."

The guy doing curls in the squat rack is the most annoying of them all.

I usually stroll in, give them a look and they know to move along.

Plenty of subhumans at the gym today

Mostly wasting thier time because of weak genetics, I'm sure they will "retire" within a couple weeks

My garage gym. Little dirty in this picture but that's because it is used pretty much daily. I have commercial machines that aren't needed but helps give options.

Nice power rack and adjustable bench, bar, weights
Rower or Air bike
Power block dumbbells

Above is all you need to be able to do pretty much anything you can do at the gym, at least anything worth doing. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

You should start letting family and friends use your gym for like $20/mo to recoup some costs

Well you're missing hot sloots wearing yoga pants and sports bras, but other than that it's beautiful. How much did all that set you back? Assuming it's not all brand new equipment.

Ok so did 3 sheets of plywood and rubber mats from tractor supply. Prolly cost about 700.

Got the following for 750 off craigslist
Elitefts power cage
Elitefts adjustable bench
Texas power bar
Fight gone bad clock/timer

Sorinex hurricane-500 plus 200 to get shipped from Connecticut

Power block dumbbells go up to 125 per- not sure on price as I got these as Christmas gifts as the 0-50 set then got the expansion packs over the next two Christmas. But prolly 750 or so

Rogue ghd- ask for rogue gift cards only as Christmas gifts so that paid for that but I think it's like 800 shipped

Sorinex lay pulldown- 500 off Craigslist

Rogers super squat pro-1500 shipped from St. Louis

The rower and air bike I got on Black Friday from getrxd in houston for 1000 for the set.

Rogue rings/suspension trainer/heavy bag prolly 250 or so total

Weights for I think 400 for 800 lbs

Tv- 125 from wal mart on Black Friday

So prolly close to 10k when you add in the other bars and some of the new things I just got. Still got 450 in rogue gift cards to spend too.

But that 10k is over 3 years or more and much of it was gifts or came from gift cards. All pieces are commercial pieces which isn't needed. I buy pretty much everything used off Craigslist or eBay.

Pretty much done buying anything big for now until I build a new house and get more room.

Honestly though all you need is a nice 11g or better rack, nice bar from rogue's barnyard, weights off of Craigslist or Facebook groups, and a decent adjustable bench. A simple platform built from osb and rubber stall mats for floor lifts. Can get a bad arse workout with just that and be safer then in any gym do to only lifting in a power cage.

If you want more than that search craigslist and be willing to make a drive.

And before anybody says it's a waste of money, lifting is one of my only hobbies and I enjoy it. I make plenty of money to afford whatever I want and I buy everything pretty much used. If it offends you I have a nice gym....frick off snowflake.
