In all fairness, they have Asians that make their decisions.

More like, how fricked are they!
The infrastructure in China is shite, for the most part, except for Shanghai and other tourist cities.
Besides, that info came from state-run news, so I GUARANTEE that it was strife with overages and handouts, and nowhere near that number.

It amazes me how much money it takes to do simple road construction.

EBR has been under construction for 35 years and will be for another 35. It's just a fact at this point.

Post the pics of the BR loop progress

China saves money on unimportant things like worker safety. They lol at stupid stuff like OSHA.

EbR couldn't put in a turn lane at that price, would cost an additional 10m

You mean traffic didn't get any better after the government stepped in?

That's a cool bridge but I don't get how ten years of EBR parish spending relates or compares to one major project in china. If you compared it to the new roads/st francisville bridge at $400 million I would get it.

Looks like the commies had a spy here and jacked the plans of the bridge in st francisville

Apples and oranges

75% of that money was probably used to put in red lights at every fricking intersection in the city so that we can insure that it takes 45 minutes to travel 2 miles.
Seriously, our road planning has to be the worst in the nation.

Harrisonburg is getting a nice new bridge...in fairness, their current bridge is an antique.

There's only so much they can do to make the traffic better without a loop, which is just not politically possible. What they have done has absolutely improved the underlying infrastructure though and it's really not debateable.

In 2015 China had a PPP GDP per capita of $14,100 (wow, it is growing fast!). The United States had a PPP GDP per capita of $55,800. Everything costs less in China to make because of the price of labor.

I hope there weren't any rare newts livings there.

The Beipanjiang Bridge took three years to build, cost more than $146.7 million dollars, and stretches to be 4,396 feet long.
So the bridge isn't a mile long.
Compare this to the I-10 bridge in BR
quote:
Total length
4,550 feet (1,387 m) (superstructure)
14,150 feet (4,313 m) (overall)
Now the price is cheap; however, it's not as big of a deal as the pics make it look.

100 million was probably spend for studies to tell us that three lanes merging in to one at the base of the MS River Bridge getting onto I-10E causes traffic back ups
