Gerry V was an unimaginative troll and that's being generous.

I take it from reading the thread that Gerry V was a cuck of massive proportions???

Walton & Johnson just left Bayou 95.7 in NOLA... coincidence?

I think there is a very, very high chance that W&J end up on 99.5 in NOLA. They would just need to program from 10 to 11 when Rush comes on.

I'm guessing WJBO will pick up a Clear Channel national host of some sort.

And yeah, Gerry V is awful. He was awful with the hornets. He was awful on the sports talk station in NOLA. He's awful doing news radio, awful when he has worked on Fox 8.

I had no idea so many felt this way also! I thought it was just me.

This guy and his NY accent and annoying cliches would make me audibly curse in my car and send me to work in a bad mood.

Great news... He was horrible. I've been listening to W&J in the morning.

FWIW Michael Berry has become insufferable as well. I rarely listen to him in the afternoon.

If only WWL would shite-can Garland, the airwaves would smell better.

I can honestly say I stopped listening to that station once they removed Osterlind. Terrible move...Mike Berry is just awful

Yeah, this is another one. Ironic, considering that W&J kind of mentored him in the beginning. Just like W&J, the longer Obama has been president, the worst he sounds.

Pop a Top Friday is still pretty cool, and he still does a good job talking to relatively unknown yet good musicians.

Not sure if you really understand the definition of a cuck -- other than you feel it is an insult. But in any case, I wouldn't say Gerry was a cuck. Instead, I would describe him as an irritating blowhard-type whose opinions aren't guided by any consistent principles.

Ditto... It was only time I listened. His anti-Trump rants were over the top. I understand his respect for and loyalty Ted Cruz but it was too much.

He would flat out lie about social media on his show. He would talk about debates blowing up on the show's FB page and you could go there and there would be like one comment. Dead as a doornail.

I'm also thoroughly convinced he would fabricate the listener emails he would read during the show.

I stopped listening to Gerry V in the mid 90's... I don't know why New Orleans market holds on to such mediocrity but that dude had no business being on the radio for 20+yrs.

Last week I saw Gerry V on WGNO's "News With a Twist." He was filling in for Susan Roesgen. Is he a cockroach?

That sums him up perfectly. He would play devil's advocate and take the stance and make the argument that he thought would most stir the pot of his listeners.

Good news for Osterland fans. Per his Facebook page, he will be taking W&J's slot on 95.7 beginning January 9th. Direct quote below:

"I am excited to announce my radio show is back! Monday morning January 9th, "The John Osterlind Show" debut's on Bayou 95.7 FM New Orleans. I agreed to a three year contract to be on Monday - Friday, 6-10am. Thank you Chris Klaus, Steve Suter and Kat Vance for being so smart. I mean thanks for this great opportunity."
