From a financial perspective, probably not the best move. Going to have to take out a lot of loans for undergrad, then even more for Vet school.

If he were going to some small, private liberal arts school in the NE, I would agree, but an Ivy League education is worth every penny.

Wish there were more families like this

Congratulations to him, but I hope stays woke and doesn't buy into the brainwashing that he is about to have to endure.

Some schools are absolutely worth it (Service Academies, Stanford, Ivy League, MIT, Duke, Chicago, Northwestern, Virginia, Michigan, Rice, Georgetown).

You say that. But Amhert and Williams graduates tend to do extremely well.

Sounds like he will qualify for financial aid so he might not even have to worry about student loans. Ivy League is worth it if you are super rich and your parents can pay for it or if your parents don't make much money so you get to go for cheap.
Everyone in the middle gets screwed and is better off taking a scholarship at a different school than paying full price.

Yeah, you always hear about people regretting their Ivy League education. Never mind the fact that Cornell has a $6Bn endowment, never mind the fact that a self-described "low income" kid from Opelousas will most certainly receive full-tuition financial aid from the school and/or federal Pell Grants...

The avereage total indebtedness for their last graduating class is $24,300. That's about $300/month to Sallie Mae. The average total indebtedness for LSU's last graduating class? $24,509.

Mother's with this attitude will be the demise of our fertile recruiting grounds in Louisiana.

That's a fantastic achievement. Hard work paid off for him. I know I wanted to go Wash U, but it didn't work out for me. Those moments are precious and should be cherished. I have to laugh at all the hate being thrown his way out of pettiness and jealousy. Y'all are some sad people.
