People act like that when LSU scores a touchdown. Their child just got into the fricking ivy league, let them have fun.

Ed Marinaro played there. Was runner up to Pat Sullivan for Heisman.

The video seemed a little staged. Everyone's reaction was so quick.

Anyway, congrats to the kid.

ohh i do see similar reactions at sporting events. It's entertainment and not meant for reserved reactions.

That's what i'm talking about. Why does fun need to result in that type of reaction for certain subsets of society?

That kid had every reason to fail but instead he worked hard enough to earn what should become a turning point in his family's history in terms of education and earning power.

It may be NBD for many of us on here but as a kid who earned his way out of poverty myself, I could certainly empathize and relate to such a momentous occasion.

Yep... no hating here. We should all have moments in life that make us that happy.

Congrats, kid.

As someone who applied to colleges way outside my academic reality and received a stack of rejection letters, I can only imagine his enthusiasm.

NYU would've sucked in the winter anyway...

Say what you really mean. The kid just got into a great school Ivy League. He's obviously been working hard for a long time.

not me really. I was wondering about proper decorum when it comes to happy reactions to situations. Evidently i'm not the only one who noticed this

Good for him. Great school in a cool little town. Hope he keeps up the hard work - getting into the vet school won't be easy

Congrats to the kid! Some of you guys. Maybe this kid can be an example for minority students. They need all the role models they can get. .
