I'm told that Alabama OC Lane Kiffin is the leading candidate to replace Herman at the University of Houston. Such a move would free up Applewhite and Orlando, both of whom are interviewing for the head coaching position at Houston, to move to Texas after the Cougars' bowl game.

must be why Culotta was back tracking like a son of a bitch regarding Kiffin. He was emphatic for weeks if O gets the job, Kiffin was locked in too.

Now he was "well I gotta believe O never made guarantees regarding Lane. In fact, I know other names are on the list."

LSU has the worst insiders. Their homerism sets the fan base up for disappointment.

Seeing the list of HC candidates, I'd be shocked if it wasn't Kiffin...which sucks for LSU.

I didn't hear this.

But, names on the list is where the process starts. It sounds like (this was always my supposition) Orgeron hasn't done anything with his list other than offer Kiffin.

our insiders are now bought and paid for with the current regime. What we hear is what they'll want us to hear. For fricks sake we have a former morning DJ answering facebook messages about who is and who is not on our OC list. This whole thing feels like a terrible dream

I honestly hope it isn't Lane, then we'll have a better idea of his hiring capabilities when its not just his bestie.

He's the leading candidate because he's the only one they have interviewed so far.

Bobby sucks at his job.

I thought the general consensus was no way Major would be welcome back in Austin?

Did anyone believe, ever, that Kiffin would turn down a head coaching job to be the OC at LSU?

I don't believe Orgeron or any LSU official believed that either.

That's my opinion as well. I'd feel a lot better about Orgeron if he did a broad search and was able to make a quality hire. I think Orgeron is missing an opportunity here. He could silence some of criticism if he did that. Hiring Kiffin won't do that for him.

I don't think it sucks for LSU at all. sure, the man can recruit but so could Herman. as far as Kiffin being OC, I never once thought that would actually occur and I am glad. I just don't think it would be good for Orgeron to have his former boss working for him, esp one with such low standards of ethics.

If the "insiders" who post on this board are any indication then I'd venture to say LSU has no true "insiders".
