If someone calls me for a specific reason its not a big deal unless they are the type who just talks on and on.

It might make me sound like an a-hole, but if someone calls just to "see whats going on" that annoys the shite out of me because I do not like to really talk on the phone. When my mom calls I have to give her short answers "okay" "yes" "no" "I am not sure yet" because if I say anything more it just makes her talk more. And she tells me the same shite over and over. Sometimes she starts talking about one thing then will jump to a whole different topic.. There are times when I really just want to hang up the phone.

I have a friend who is not nearly as bad, but he will call out of the blue for no specific reason. Sometimes I will let it go to VM hoping he will say the reason he is calling, but anyone else just do not like talking on the phone?

I like talking to my mom on the phone. Or when people call me to tell me happy birthday it means more to me than a text. That's about it.

I can not stand talking in the phone. I'm know to everybody that might call as "that guy that never answers". I purposely leave my phone as much as I can, if I am doing something I will let it ring and call them back later, I just hate it. If it were not for my wife and kid I would not have it at all

I ignore far more calls than I ever take.

Leave a VM or text me.

Phone conversations (non conference calls) should be 2 minutes or less.

I do not enjoy it at all, and I take care of business and end the call when I have to.

But some, especially women, just yack about nothing even if driving, shopping for groceries, at the doctors office, etc. They seem to use it like a pacifier.

Yeah that's pretty messed up. You do realize that this is your Mom right? I agree with the above poster. You might want to reevaluate life and take advantage of the time you have to talk to her.

Think I have maybe 2 friends I can enjoy talking to on the phone if I don't have a specific question I need answered. But that's not an every week thing, it's less frequent as we get older.

I rarely talk on the phone. My mom is in Michigan until May, and it was her birthday on Thursday, so I called her and ended up on the phone for 30 min. I was at work, and while it was inconvenient, I knew one day I wouldn't be able to call her on her birthday.

Other than that, if there's no point to a phone call, I end it quickly. I always answer, though.

What I can't stand is someone texting me continuously for 20 minutes about something that could be cleared up by a 2 minute phone call.
