I really don't understand the people trying to discredit Lane K. as a o.c.

I read thread after thread about he isn't any good. This simply isn't true.

1) Do I wish he was more mature and likeable? Absolutely. The Hate/dislike aside. He's pretty darn good.

2) l.k. has been the o.c. at two different universities that have won n.c.'s.

3) He is an outstanding recruiter. He secured Hurt's, who is a pretty good freshman. He has the #1 d.t. qb committed in Tua. He also got the l.t. commit that is a five star. (haven't these two area's been a problem at lsu?) He was the recruiting coordinator at usc when they secured some of the most talented teams in the country.

4) His one season at Tennessee he took an underman team with, Jonathan Crompton as qb, and came within one play, blocked f.g. by cody, of beating a n.c., saban coached, Alabama team.

5) His offensive statics are skewed at bama. When they are up 35 to 3,7, 10 or whatever. They don't have to score more points. They shut it down and play clock. You don't have to put 50 up and 800 yards offense to win games. you have to do that when you don't have a defense.

I'm not a fan of L.K. the person or should I say, what appears to be the person. However, you have to put your distain to the side and recognize he's pretty good at what he does and can help elevate lsu. He's done it for to long at to many places. This isn't just about offense. It's about offense and obtaining talent to compete for championships. he can do both.

Tosh Lupoi and Bo Davis are/were the main recruiters for Tua and Hurts.

And I really don't understand the people that think Kiffin is going to leave Bama to be OC for LSU.

Just like I didn't understand why Fisher would leave FSU for LSU.

I'm not. I think the dude is good at his job. I'm just discrediting him as a human.

Don't know bout y'all, but I feel my university has taken enough black eyes over the last year. Orgeron needs to hire outside his comfort zone. Don't want the good ole boy club forming back up

He's a very solid QB developer and when he's on, he's on. He does have a tendency to go away from things that are working in games though.

Still, he would be a MASSIVE improvement at LSU.

He is a good oc. Anyone that says he isnt is letting off the field things issues cloud their opinion.

Most lsu fans hate him becaue of Janzen Jackson. They need to really let that go. We dodged a huge bullet( pun intended) with that.

Link?

I've seen several reasons why people don't want Kiffin, like he'll bolt for a HC job soon, his playcalling or he's a jerk. I haven't seen many posters argue he isn't any good at his job.

The only question that should be asked is can O keep Kiffin under control? Everyone, myself included, questioned Saban bringing Kiffin to Alabama. Saban isolated him from the media and put him to work with great results. Can O do the same? It will be fun to watch if Kiffin does move to LSU.

It's a combination of our insecure fans who bitch about everything and insecure bama fans who think everyone dreams of coaching there or playing there. Notice how they're now full throttle into "we didn't want him" mode? Of course not. Why would you want the guy running your offense the way he has the last 2 or 3 years. He's had stud quarterbacks that made him look good right lmao

You posted a bunch of facts and you won't get any substantiative dispute on any of them.

Lane is an elite recruiter and one of the better play callers around. He's a pretty damn good coach and yes he outcoached saban head to head.

All you'll get though are insults about him being arrogant and people bitching about others misspelling his name.

Great post dos crystal. I completely agree with you

He's not a great OC, but the main reason is he and O are a bad combination.

Yesterday I was against Kiffin. Today I'm warming up to the idea as long as we don't let him speak publicly.

But.... all this can be lost again if we end up screwing up our qb recruiting.

Why don't you check on his time when him and O were given free reign at a university and let me know how that worked out for USCw and Tennessee.

He's a great offensive coordinator. Likes to pass a little too much but it's negligable.

Problem with him is you have to babysit his arse 24/7.

Orgeron would have all kinds of shite out of him. He would be walking bulletin board material.

This is correct. He's a damn good coordinator. I don't know if it's because he's a douche or because he's currently at Alabama that fuels some Ranters' dislike for him, but I don't care about any of that.

He's a fantastic OC and I'd take him here in a heartbeat. But he's not coming here, and certainly not to work for O, which used to be his subordinate. He'll get a HC job somewhere this year.

I don't trust him.

but, if he is hired i'll support him because of what you said (I agree with it). BUT, I would bet my bottom dollar that 2 years is the max with him. I fear he'll disrupt the coaching staff and probably try to stab coach O in the back. like I said, I don't trust him.
