maybe CEO borrowed Romney's "binders full of women" for his interview... im liking this "economical head coach" thing with associate head coaches - this is some "Moneyball" type sh$t going on at LSU... Brad Pitt to play coach O a few years down the road.

Yeah, that signature is a pretty important part of the process.

Apparently "agreeing" and "signing" are 2 different things. Somebody's word doesn't mean shite today. Story should have specifically stated "verbally agrees". Journalism 101.

Feldman is one of the most respected CFB writers out there, and has plenty of deep connections, including to our current HC.

My wife was one of his English tutors at CLU in 1998. According to her, he's soft spoken, and was very into psychology at the time. He was reading a book about the profile of serial killers and their mentality. She said he was a nice guy.

And before the innuendos start (I know, you can't divulge something like this on the Rant and not expect to be harassed), he's been with his girlfriend since high school.

Anyway, I'm sure it bothers my wife that so many coaches are coming out of Cal Lutheran from the same time she could have majored in MRS in the late 90's, but she only had nice things to say about Aranda. She didn't know Tom Herman, but she knew his wife, Michelle Tatarakis and said she was nice as well.

So it's OK to hire a guy that doesn't already wear purple and gold but there is a rule against hiring a guy with no head coaching experience? Here's some groundbreaking news. Every college head coach in America at this moment was at one time hired with zero head coaching experience. So was the winningest coach in LSU history.

Yes, all coaches, at their first job, had no HC experience.

My point is that it's too big a risk to hire a no-experience head coach at a big-time, ELITE program.

Remember, Saban's first HC gig was Toledo. Meyer's was Bowling Green. Harbaugh's was Univ. of San Diego.

They proved it at smaller schools, then moved up. Typically how it's done. Not always, of course, but it's the best way to evaluate coaches.

Michigan State was basically a .500 team for the first 4 of Saban's years as a DC at MSU. Meyer was never even an OC before being named a HC at BGSU nor was Harbaugh who only had 2 years as a QB coach in the NFL before getting a college HC job. I think he used to moonlight for his dad. I venture to say that none of their resume's as assistants can touch what Aranda has accomplished the last 5 years.

Maybe the lack of Coach O's success in his past gigs will be the equivalent of the above quote.
