I was called RACIST just yesterday for saying I wouldn't go to NOLA this weekend. Seems I was right.

The way I look at it is that those 10 people shot are someone's kids/family. Prays sent to them.

Real shitty to get a call saying someone in your family has been shot or killed just because they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

People, don't hate just because some arse got stupid and shot/kill other people. Think of the victims.

I wish this game could be moved from Thanksgiving weekend at least. It's too good of a tourist weekend to have this game on.

Too many people come down, unaware, and vow to never come back.

Two were arrested, but it doesn't look like they're the suspects.

quote:

Two men were arrested after a Bourbon Street shooting that police said left a man dead and nine other people wounded early Sunday (Nov. 27). The men, including one shooting victim, were booked on charges of illegal carrying of a weapon, police said.

New Orleans police did not say the men were being charged or suspected to be the shooter or shooters in the incident, which occurred shortly before 1:40 a.m. near the corner of Bourbon and Iberville streets.

NOPD did not name the two men arrested but said one of them was a victim in the shooting and was being treated for his injuries. Police did not indicate the severity of the man's injuries.

This is just sad:
quote:

"It's bad for New Orleans," said the woman, who has worked in the area for six years. But she added she doesn't think it will change anything. "It will be back to business as normal. Nobody cares."

Bayou Classic needs to be removed from New Orleans and played in Atlanta or Houston. It is unfortunately besieged with problems every year on Bourbon Street.

I don't think the Bayou Classic needs to be moved, people shooting anyways in NOLA whether it's an event or not. It's the culture that needs to be changed.

Mitch has no control of the city. There's so much more that can be done to prevent these idiots from the violence they cause

Aaron Looney is NOT the name of the victim. He identified the victim

The person who died, identified by NOPD spokesman Aaron Looney as a male, died at an area hospital.

I like how complaining about a mass shooting is declared racist

What presuppositions do you have to hold to come to that conclusion?

Let's see:

P1: All black people are violent Neanderthals
P2: Violence occurred
Conclusion: Blacks committed the violence

Therefore when someone complains about violence you assume they are complaining about blacks without realizing your own false/racist assumption that is P1.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was a local issue not a BC one. The feeling I've had running around downtown this week has been uncomfortable. Thanksgiving night I saw a group of about 60 kids in a fight on canal street and about an hour later there was a stabbing a block away (as a quick example). It's felt like tensions have been high between some local groups though I have no idea what's actually up

Wanna know what's up? Bad or no parenting at all for these young kids. It's a growing problem, and until the black community look inside their own homes to help clean up the problem, there will continue to be youths running around causing violent crimes.
