Can someone give me a Cliffnotes version of the LSU coaching search?

Serious question. I've been mostly out of pocket for a day or so.
I see references to Fisher, Herman, O, Fedora, and ESPN. Just wondering what's actually going on.

LSU wants Herman. LSU has likely been on him for months behind the scenes. If Herman wants us is unknown by anybody but the principles involved. If not, it is likely that we default to Coach O with a very short term contract (maybe 2 years), so that if things fall off the rails it won't be too devastating. As opposed to hiring a guy like Fedora or Gundy and being locked in for five years.

You can probably get someone to give cliffs on the Coaching Changes Board back and forth, but there is a bunch of misinformation floating around. No consensus.
Not sure if the LSU admin are trying and failing to run a tight ship, or some in the department are trolls at heart.
