I hope we get him but reading his comments made me think he is just playing lsu for a bigger contract...coaches who know they are leaving usually emphatically deny these rumors...he didn't ...my bet he is staying at Fsu

He has always loved LSU since his time here.

Saban being 65 is nice too.

lolno. It is objectively a better job.

I'm not even some LSU Homer at all.

They pay their assistants a TON more than FSU (seriously, look it up, their DC makes like 500k), have great facilities, have the most players in the NFL per capita, and have no in state rival for recruiting.

People put way too much weight in this statement.

Coaches want to win in the best conference they can.

The SEC is much better than the ACC.

LSU is the only big dog in a talent rich area. That is 100% unique to LSU.

Passionate fanbase.

Already coached here and has stated he loved it.

Will be paid a shite load.

Elite coaches are competitive and want to be the best.

Fair enough. But this seems like an emotional decision rather than a business one. Of course you could be correct, I just don't understand from the business side.

I don't think FSU is willing to pay as much as LSU. Despite all he has done there, they are still only paying him 5.2M....which is a lot, but 6.8-7.5 is a lot more (Heck, Sumlin and strong almost make as much, and they have done little to nothing).

Also, he has wanted them to pay assistant coaches more so he can keep them longer, but they have (even up till now) not done that to the extent that he wants, and LSU will.

Besides that, yeah, it is basically a lateral move with a nice pay raise, FSU is a great university for recruiting, and their conference schedule is not as bad as the SEC west.

Florida State also grossly underpaid their coordinators.

I don't think people really understand that.

It is a joke how little FSU pays their assistants/coordinators. And that is a big thing. Jimbo simply can't attract top assistants.

And that fact that the ex wife got the pickle tickle from an alumi might have helped a little bit. Jimbo says to FSU on his way out the door you can thank the doctor/alumi that bang my wife for me leaving. And watch everyone turn on the dude like the guy in Chicago that caught the fair/foul ball that keep the cubs for going to the World Series a few years back. Now that guy was ran out of town.

He's actually never left chicago and has gone to a few Cubs games since then anonymously and no one recognized him.

He's tired of the FSU boosters telling him how to run his program. They run that place like the Mafia and Bobby Bowden is the Don.

The Jamis Winston situation came very close to making Jimbo the next Art Briles. He doesn't want his career ended that way.

Assistant coaching pay. Yes FSU is 7th but LSU is 1st. See Bret leaving Wisky to go to Arkansas.

Recruiting. Only power 5 team in the state in a state where best talent per capita.

Just two right there.

Its a huge deal for a Head Coach when he can't get his guys paid.

One thing we can say about LSU is that we WILL pay coordinators.

To be the best, you have to beat the best.

FSU doesn't allow Jimbo to pay assistants as well as LSU would.

Only game in Louisiana and will kill it recruiting.

Jimbo loves LSU.

SEC > ACC

One word about The Goat in Tuscaloosa

1) EGO

This is why Jimbo would want the challenge

Nah, lsu can pony up more dough than fsu can. We have more money to frick around with than they do. That's not just my opinion, that's factual according to forbes...not to mention our boosters and major contibutors donate way more cash than fsu's do. Get your facts straight before you post dumb shite like that. Sounds to me like you just don't want jimbo to come to lsu so you are trying to convince yourself by spouting off false info. Geaux tigers.

Actually, it makes a lot of sense.

SEC is probably the surest path to the playoffs, ACC might occasionally get left out.

Recruiting is easier at LSU; at Fla St you compete against Fla and Miami, as well as all the outside guys.

Going head-to-head with Saban- odds are, in the short term, anyone wanting to win a title will have to do so anyway. But you're forgetting a couple of things: Jimbo knows Nick, and might think he's the guy that can take Saban down...

And Saban is 65, Jimbo is 51. Who knows, maybe Jimbo gets a 2-3 season grace period to set up his program, which likely coincides with the time Saban retires as a coach. That gives him the advantage to take over the SEC, while the Tide adjust to Life After Nick. Long game.
