LSU must follow the model set by Alabama, Ohio St., and Michigan

I never start posts, but guys, lets be real. Alabama, OSU, and Michigan returned to prominence, by going out and paying big bucks for the MOST qualified coaches they could find.
Bama snagged Saban, after messing around with former Bama grads who didnt work out.
OSU got a semi retired Urban.
Michigan went and got Harbaugh, also a known commodity as head coach, even though he didnt have a college ship like Saban and Meyer, he took the 49ers to the Super Bowl.
LSU needs to follow suit; learn from these programs, and not settle for a head coach. Jimbo would be a great fit in my humble opinion for these reasons. However, there are others out there who work as well. Lets just get somebody that we KNOW is a good coach, please.

I think that's been said...............10,000 times

Nah, we should promote our DL coach because he is good buddies with a good OC.

I think Danny O'Shea is our best choice right now to be honest.

Tom Coughlin probably ain't doing shite right now. He's like 70 but we could probably get like 3 years out of him.

Not really. It hasnt been said nearly as much as hire Coach O, yaw yaw.
I just wanted to post it, so it actually be on the board. I never post, just read TD, and this coaching changes board, and if I wasnt a tiger die hard, it actually seems like we dont want to do this. I think that most fans want this, but we arent very vocal. But this is the reality that needs to happen for LSU to be great once again.

LOL. If he were younger it actually would be a decent hire.

How old is 70 really though, I mean just a couple years older than Saban.

Exactly. If you want to be at the top you have to have a coach that can get you there. Jimbo is that guy. Jimbo with LSUs talent, which I think can consistently be better than FSU's is going to be awesome.

Bama snagged Saban
Alabama made an offer to, then, West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez before snagging Saban.
I doubt their 1st choice would have been as successful.

True, definitely could be considered 70 years young. Saban is the rarity though. In actuality most coaches retire in their early 60's, i.e. Mack Brown, who shockingly is only in his young 60's despite appearance.

The question is are there any Harbs/Saban/Meyers out there? Jimbo would be a good choice, but I think he's in the next tier after these three.

Dream coach. Would take haha

agreed, but my point is that we gotta get the most qualified current HC we can find. Who that is, is definitely debatable. Jimbo, Herman, Gundy, Patterson (TCU), someone is out there for us to snag.

that is the question. Getting Saban is on the same level as getting Pete Carrol from the NFL if he had some bad seasons.
Alabama was in the right place at the right time for that ordeal. Sometimes coaching searches come down to a lot of luck.
