Gumbo on Grits

So for the LSU V Alabama game I made a big pot of Chicken and Andouille Gumbo. I put all the left overs in the fridge after the loss and then drowned my sorrows. The next morning I had a slight tinge of a head ache and was hungry for breakfast. As I opened the fridge I saw the gumbo and thought that might make a good breakfast. Only problem was I was out of rice and potato salad. I did, however, have grits. I cooked the grits and poured the gumbo on top. It was absolutely delicious. Anyone else try this?

I'd definitely eat that.
I've also enjoyed red beans/white beans over grits.

Years ago a buddy who can cook his arse off made some sort of shrimp dish and served it over grits. It wasnt shrimp and grits but something you would normally serve with rice. It was fantastic and had me thinking I bet most things normally served with rice could be just as good if not better if served over some good grits.

I got leftover grits and leftover gumbo in the fridge...tomorrow it's going down!

It's not much different than grits and grillades, so yeah, that sounds awesome.

A restaurant in Shreveport, Blue Southern Comfort, has served gumbo over grits. Not sure if she still offers it that way.
I thought it was pretty good, but I prefer gumbo over rice (with a scoop of potato salad).

I've used rice and mashed potatoes as a substitute for rice both are good.

I've done that before and my better half looked at me like I had gone insane. I just figured it was like a gumbo shakshouka. Delicious.
