I have heard its great, especially the magic system.
How is it for people here who have read it?

I like it a lot.
I actually like the Wax and Wayne Mistborn series better than the First Mistborn trilogy.

It's really good, I highly recommend it. Brandon Sanderson writes good stuff for all of his Cosmere books, not just Mistborn.
The second Mistborn series is "more fun" than the first, I'd say, but they are both good and the first complements the second.

Good, but drawn out at times. I found myself skimming pages every once and a while.

That's how I felt about it. I think I was around 200-300 pages into the first book. One day I finished reading a chapter, and I just never started back up again. Most people on here love it. So, I am probably an outlier. I just couldn't get into it. The magic system was pretty interesting, but it just didn't hold my interest enough for me to keep going.

It's fairly simple fantasy. Don't expect expert writing. Just really clear writing. Sanderson isn't a wordsmith, he's a a utilitarian.
But it's a super fun story, I loved it.

I'm reading the third book of the original trilogy. I loved the first two books. They aren't crazy high fantasy and the magic in the books is really interesting. The fights are fun to read.

Pretty much as others have said. Great magic system, pretty straight forward though there are deep mysteries to solve if you want to really dig, does drag in places. It's some of his earlier stuff and you can tell he's gotten better with his newer stuff.
Audiobooks are fantastic. Would highly recommend if you are in the market for some.

Brandon Sanderson is great.

I found it very entertaining. I read to escape into the world the author has created. For me, this was a series I just had to keep reading. Compelling characters and a storyline i got sucked into. If you havent read Sanderson's Storm Light Archive series i would recommend that as well. Some of his other works were so-so for me, but Mistborn, including Alloy of Law series, and Storm Light were captivating for me

I love his Storm Light books. They are long and can be drawn out but it's a great story.
Mistborn was good but like someone mentioned before I liked the Wax and Wayne series better, Wayne was an absolutely great character and a ladies man!

Great series, the concept of how magic works is original and the main characters are pretty engaging. Definitely worth a read.
