All part of bama's plan to quiet the crowd so we wave it and not make noise. I find it funny we only do this against bama when they come here and it hasn't worked the last two times. I would wipe my arse with it and get loud frick that shite.

Not trying to be a Debbie downer but this just seems bush league. Mainly because when I think of towel waving I think of this video.

The towels are only being handed out in visitor's sections. They'll be needed to wipe Bama tears away

The towels make it louder because people are so excited about how it looks they yell louder - who cares about clapping. Most of the loudest stadiums in the country have towels or shakers: Texas A&M, Bama, Auburn, Tenn, Georgia Penn St, ----

I have to laugh at some of the bitching here. A couple of the loudest games in Tiger Stadium history had towels. The Tennessee OT win under Saban when fans rushed the field had towels and it was one of the loudest and most electric atmospheres ever. That was the first time I ever remember them doing that. 2012 Bama had them too and you pretty much can't get any louder than that. They don't stop anyone from being loud. I see very few people screaming and clapping at the same time, so towels aren't really affecting noise levels. Though they can seem kind of pointless, the LSU fans actually seem to bring some extra energy with the towels.

If i had to choose I'd prefer shakers

Unlike towels, they actually make a noise when 100k of them are going

Yeah, if you listen real good, you can hear the "g-h-e-y" sound they make when everyone shakes them in unison.

2012 was loud becuase Alabama had just beaten us in the NC. It was fresh on everyone's mind. 2014 had towels and it wasn't as loud as the Ole Miss game. I was at both of them in the same seat. Ole Miss was peak Death Valley loud. Alabama was a step below.
