Really wish they would just cancel the salutes thing. Doesn't really fit with the game day atmosphere, and having Gameday on campus is pretty damn cool.

DOnt know why the salute can't just be on Friday or Sunday or Monday every year. It's a cluster frick every year

You are correct. We tailgate by Memorial Tower and see the honorees and their families every year. It could be done on Friday evening (sunset ceremony), could be just as nice, and their families wouldn't be pulled into the craziness of crowds on the PG.

If I can drop a "back in the day", the PG used to be empty when we walked from frat house to football games. But due to alcohol rules at frat houses, reserved parking taking over, cost, it seems that PG is party central for most under 30. Not a good environment for LSU Salutes.

At least not have it on Saturday, like 2006 said. It just doesn't fit.

This was tweeted out about 30 minutes ago LINK

The induction ceremony is part of LSU Salutes, sponsored by LSU and Cadets of the Ole War Skule. The ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. at the LSU War Memorial on the LSU Parade Ground.
So LSU doesn't seem to be moving Salutes

LSU was founded as a military Academy. Ain't going to happen. LSU's original colors were blue and white. In short, it trumps bunch of people getting drunk on the parade grounds for Gameday.

I really dont understand this.

Salutes is going to be pissed when the environment is not what they prefer for this type of ceremony.

Personally I think they should do it on Veterans Day.. But I know they have traditionally done it during the home game weekend prior to Veterans Day. They should do it on Sunday or Friday afternoon imo.

Looks like the Heisman house will be on the opposite side of the parade ground from Gameday.

Setting up Heisman House started yesterday and had no idea it was that large of a setup

It's to try to have people show up for it. Respect for the dead is more important than a damn football game.

Is it too much to ask that on the biggest game of the season that they organize this whole ordeal better? I mean will people really be that upset if LSU Salutes is moved to a different weekend?

Ok Mr Holier Than Thou

Fact is we have a home football game scheduled for 7 or 8 Saturdays of a given Fall and that will always create logistical problems. Have the ceremony Friday evening. There will be tons of people already in town and there will be no interference or distraction caused by raucous tailgaters. Wouldn't that be more somber and respectful of the dead?

You will piss off a bunch of alumni with connections in high places....

That being said, there may be an agenda here as well

To where exactly? We all know that they aren't going to setup in front of the PMAC and setting up where they did for the '07 LSU/VTech game was a massive buzzkill

Not being disrespectful. But I always found it kind of arse backwards that LSU would put this event on the same day as LSU/UA.
