Been a lot of questions about this and I can provide an update that might shed some light on the situation.

A buddy we tailgate with called up LSU Salutes yesterday to see what the deal was with parking, the ceremony, etc. We tailgate on the PG. Apparently, the head of LSU Salutes which puts it together was not even aware Gameday was coming to LSU. Let that sink in for a second.

So as of yesterday, LSU Salutes still thought they were having their ceremony as usual on the PG. This also leads me to believe Gameday was not aware of the ceremony, or that LSU said screw it and they will figure the ceremony situation out later.

Point is, we still dont know if anything is going to change or where the ceremony might be.

Thanks for posting. We tailgate near Memorial Tower and were wondering the same. How can the powers to be be so clueless?

Has to be why LSU hasn't officially posted anything on its website. As usual, reactionary decisions.

Whoever wrote this is not happy

And the rumor of it moving to Walk-ons also brings up another issue. They have Better Than Ezra playing a concert there friday night.

I'm in Navy public affairs and I called to try to see if I could get some press credentials to get some photos of the ceremony and anything involving service members during pregame and talked to the guy in charge of the program and got one email reply and I've left 3-4 voice mails and never got a reply. sent a couple of e-mail follow ups too.

oh well.

It is buried on their website under game notes. Not the normal big headline, but it is there.

Yes years ago. They dont do it there anymore and I dont think they can. Gameday set has grown too large to fit in that area.

Serious question: what is LSU Salutes?

Never heard of it and have no idea what it is...

I think that was posted before powers to be even thought about this conflict. I'm betting that they move Game Day to old front nine or triangular lot near Walk-Ons.

03 Georgia was the last time it was at the PMAC. I would LOVE for it to be there again but unfortunately I believe the set has gotten too big and wouldnt be able to fit there....

We shall see

If he had no idea that gameday was going to be on the parade grounds, then he isn't watching or listening. Since Saturday there has been a picture posted saying Gameday was on the parade grounds on top of Bonnette saying it yesterday before O spoke.

Why is such a somber ceremony scheduled on the (easily known) LSU-Alabama game date?

It sounds like a whole lot of frickery went into this on all sides.

Wrong. We've been tailgating in front of Memorial Tower for about 10 years. Due to parking problems, we usually punt when LSU Salutes is going. We're paying for Friday night security so we can tailgate this year. Trust me - LSU Salutes and Game Day have NEVER been on the Parade Ground(s) at the same time before. LSU officials ask for silence. All music and loud generators are asked to be turned off. These two cannot co-exist.

I slept on the parade ground for 2012 and woke up to the cannon blasts. Also tailgate in that same area.

That quote is directly off of LSUsports.net and those two most certainly co-existed that day.
