It's getting to be that time of year to finalize this list. What y'all got so far?

Whatever that pretentious piece of shite was that Radiohead put out. I'm sure that's a safe add.

ETA before too many feelings get hurt, I'm pretty much joking. Was the biggest RH fan for years but was super disappointed with Limbs and I was done after Pearl.

My album of the year at this point is either:

Car Seat Headrest- Teens of Denial

or

Deakin- Sleep Cycle

Some other albums that would probably make my year-end list:

Radiohead- A Moon Shaped Pool
LVL Up- Return to Love
Cymbals Eat Guitars- Pretty Years
Parquet Courts- Human Performance
Danny Brown- Atrocity Exhibition
Kevin Morby- Singing Saw
Frightened Rabbit- Painting of a Panic Attack
Connections- Midnight Run

Bon Iver is a potential candidate. I thought the album was pretty good, but I really can't remember all the new albums this year. Plus AOTY seems like such a shot in the dark sometimes. I never thought Beck would be able to win within the last couple of years.

Car Seat Headrest is the runaway winner for me. That album gets better on every listen. There's been TONS of great music this year, and I'd also submit PUP - The Dream is Over, but that's more for personal reasons. My wife would nominate Thao and the Get Down Stay Down's A Man Alive.
I think there are about 20 records which would make my top 10 on any given day. Great year, so far, across a ton of genres.

Sturgill Simpson - A Sailor's Guide to Earth
Anderson .Paak - Malibu
Bon Iver - 22, A Million
Frank Ocean - Blonde
Chance the Rapper - Coloring Book
Michael Kiwanuka - Love & Hate
Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool
Car Seat Headrest - Teens of Denial
Margo Price - Midwest Farmer's Daughter

First 3 standout well above the others for me.

I have a feeling that Car Seat Headrest album will get the War on Drugs treatment on here though I don't think it's even in the same conversation to how good TWOD album is

Parquet Courts - Human Performance
Damien Jurado - Visions of Us on the Land
Steve Gunn - Eyes on the Lines
Wild Nothing - Life of Pause
Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam - I Had a Dream That You Were Mine

These are ones that come to mind. Hasn't been a great year for indie bullshite, at least not compared to last year which was a mammoth.

Me too Burlee. There should be a new music or "Insert Current Year" Releases and Reviews type thread stickied on here. I love these threads as I love looking for new music.

Keep em coming!

My two above. Both great albums by talented musicians with a fresh and exciting sound.

edit.

I just listened to some of these other suggestions....what am I missing? Car Seat Headrest sounds like a less talented Dinosaur Jr. Bon Iver sounds like a dude singing over random noise. Parquet Courts sounds like a less interesting British version of Pavement.
