One of the best college bball experiences I had was the game where Mike V was introduced. He was brought to the PMAC for the Alabama game in 1990. I managed to scheme my way onto the court floor for pregame and most of the game. It was cool when Mike came out- I think he was on a leash, maybe. Or maybe the years have created that memory.
But the really cool thing was watching CJ work his magic floor level, on the baseline. It's one thing to watch from the stands. It's something good totally different to have the vantage point of him driving toward you full speed going around and through defenders and see how smooth and controlled he was
Maravich was before my time, so CJ is the best I ever got to watch play the game on the college level.

Also, he was a great leaper, and he attributed his vertical ability to jumping repeatedly from the ground onto his front porch wearing combat boots. I did the same and only ended up with blisters
He had Tourette's syndrome, though I do not know if he had it to the degree of randomly shouting profanities or just tics.

quote:No maybe! He was much more athletic than Curry. Dude was unstoppable. Could do whatever he wanted to on the court. His NBA career was brief sadly as he got caught up into the Nation of Islam stuff and just didn't have much of an NBA career.
ETA: Think Steph curry of today but maybe more athletic. Just not as tall.
but dude would catch alley oops down low around the rim at 5'11" and dunk it easily. Just incredible athleticism that Curry wish he had.

With their different games, comparing him to Maravich is like apples to oranges.
But while he wasn't quite the player Pistol Pete was, he was definitely in that stratosphere.

My dad and I still say when his Tourette's was worse than normal he was even more accurate shooter. Guy was unreal
His momma named his Chris, I'ma call his Chris

What do you mean by he wasn't quite the player Maravich was?

Christ Jackson's first game at Florida, 58 points, 7 assists, is on YouTube. He was totally awesome, Gator fans applauded him for his performance too.

The team with Blanton overachieved and the team with Shaq and Stanley underachieved.

Just what I said.
Should I use words with fewer syllables for you?

CJ was the truth, it was like an explosion when he emerged on the college scene. He gave Tiger basketball nation reason to believe a national championship was an inevitability with him on the team. Like having superman on your team. Some of the things he did genuinely wowed everyone, including opponents.

He was 3rd best behind only Shaq and Pete. And he was more fun to watch than Shaq.

I got drunk at Fred's on many a night because of the points he scored. The more he scored, the better the drink specials were!

No idiot just simply explain what you mean by Jackson isn't the player Maravich is?? Is that to hard for you to do?

Actually, it's not hard at all, but since you're obviously on the rag this week, I'll just tell you to frick off.

Wasn't it a Tennessee game were Jackson went on a solo fast break against 3 defenders and as he was approaching the basket, the announcer said that it just didn't seem fair and he meant that it wasn't fair for Tennessee?
Jackson scored easily against them.
Jackson scored easily against them.

So, how good was Chris in college exclusively?
Greatest college basketball player I've seen play in my lifetime...or more specifically, from the time I started following basketball in 1981. There is nothing more beautiful in my mind's eye than that incredible between the legs crossover that would lead to a jump shot right in some guy's grill.

Where does he rank all time in purple and gold?
Top 3, with Pistol and Shaq.

You're an arse just like I thought. Maravich was not the shooter Jackson was. If you think that then you're stupid as you sound. And frick you!

He was ridiculous, old school Steph Curry.
