If the general public is allowed to play and they don't have to have a member with them, then I doubt anyone will care or even notice.

The only place I've ever had this problem was at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston. You would find a spot where the person was almost finished and ask him/her if they were going to be hitting more balls. Spot is theirs until they decide to leave.

I would never make people wait while I went to buy another bucket.

It's not like you're the only one there and you are holding up the whole line. There are many other spots that will soon be open.

You are there practicing. You'll finish when you finish.

That is the range that brought up this question.

I'm not really complaining about the time the guy may be taking. If he bought 30 large buckets, that's fine. He planned accordingly. I was just bringing it up for the guy that buys the small, then decides he wants to get another. Judging from the responses, I'm in the wrong. I've never complained to the person when this occurs. I just move on. I was just wondering if this was typical.

Secondly, maybe I am just not going to the same ranges... but how many ranges other than TopGolf still have "hitting bays." All the ones I go to are at the course, and are just a 50 yard long tee box that are have ropes to show the boundary.

I've been to 2 driving ranges in the New Orleans area that still have bays, so I'm assuming there's a lot out there. With that said I've never been to either one where there were so many people there that you had to wait.

How many people actually hit multiple buckets of balls?

I don't even like getting a large, but I hate the driving range anyway

My only problem with Top Golf is that I can't get any driver practice with those short little plastic tees.

A separate question regarding etiquette as I only play a round of golf roughly 3 times per year but attempt to hit at the driving range about once/month.

doubt it would be closed to you ...

the hands down, absolute best deal in golf in the greater houston area used to be at redstone where the shell houston open is played ... was open to the public and a very high end course ... you had access to the driving range with brand new, unlimited titleist balls (nxt) ... flat range with multiple flags, perfect hitting bays with plenty of grass ... the chipping area was huge with the same range balls and immaculate grass everywhere and perfect bunkers, and the putting green was massive with the finest greens available anywhere in houston ... all for $15 ... then they went private and said 'gtfo' ...

Take the time that you would have to wait and use it to drive out of the populated areas.

Hitting balls is a useless endeavor. It only helps the pros.

I play golf as much as anyone here and I can honestly say it's been a long long time since I've ever had this problem.

If the dude is hitting more than a bucket by himself, he's got more problems than a bucket will fix.

He gets the spot til he is done even if he goes back for seconds. I had a problem once with a dad and his son. He was giving the kid a lesson and told me I couldnt use the bay to their right, which was the only open bay. Dad was standing in it with Ipad recording.

You are way overthinking the driving range...
