Given the current coaching situations at UTa and/or USCw, if I were the administration, I would have a sense of urgency and do everything to secure Herman right now before those hc jobs open, including throwing a bank at him, until he says yes or no. He is just an elite coach that you don't want to pass up no matter what O would finish the year.

Idk what happened to their defense. They were ranked 25th last season.

No, they were ranked No. 107 in the 2015 final stats.

Longhorns were 26th in 2014.

A defensive specialist who has already been given a reprieve to fix the offense (over the past two years) does not deserve a second chance to fix his specialty.

It ain't gonna work.

Maybe espn will shame the ever living shite out of UT for trying to fire Strong and they decide keep him.

It could happen...

This. I don't buy that Texas can't get enough db talent.

LSU has Adams, paris, and several others over the past couple years from TX. Ron Brooks comes to mind.

They just arent doing it right.

Their defense is terrible and Strong is a defensive guy. It makes them doubt if he can do it.

Bingo. Texas D is regressing. And they're stacked.

Look at years 2-3 for Harbaugh, Meyer, Herman, Peterson and you'll know why a wealthy, tier 1 program in a talent rich state is getting impatient. It was their "patience" with Mack Brown in the last years that largely created the need for the steep rebuild.

You horns kept saying Mack's recruiting went to complete shite at the end and left Charlie w/crapola overall.

Wouldn't their defensive woes likely be directly related to said recruiting? Sure it's year 3 but you typically don't get complete turnover and fully have your own team until year 5. In year 3 you are still relying on the last coach's recruits to give you most of your older team leaders.

The A.D. goes public with he's going to evaluate the entire program. This gives the indication that strong is on borrowed time.

This is why the media is so effective.

No one ever checks after initial sensational headlines.

Tell me why it appears Charlie Strong has Texas going in the right direction? Because I guess I'm dumb; his defense just surrendered 100 points combined in back to back games

Texas fans expected to be 2-2 at this point in the season.

Strong just brought in a top 10 recruiting class. If he's getting the recruiting down, and he takes care of this and that coaching, then Texas will be fine.

If they blow it up now they're just setting themselves up for another failure because it'll botch recruiting again for another season, just delaying the return of talent.

Completely different. Mack Brown had about an 8 year head start.

If mack Brown left it so bad, why is charlie strong getting such a short leash?

He will have less wins in his 3 years than Mack Brown did in his last 3 seasons

This.

This is Strong's 3rd year. He hasn't done shite. It's over. Most elite coaches show something by year three

Being a school with the biggest athletic warchest, I feel they only hired Charlie Strong because they were no big names that were on the table and they couldn't get Nick Saban to bite. Did Strong do well at Florida as DC? Yes, but I don't feel has proved himself after just a couple of seasons at Louisville to get a big job at Texas. Texas never really lost talent at the end of the Mac Brown era. They are suppose to have one of the best secondaries in college football, their main linebacker is an All-American which are all missing tackles, having blown assignments, and just being utterly bad. Charlie Strong's game management reminds me of Les Miles, his defensive coordinator is his friend, and their defense plays like the Saints under Steve Spagnuolo. Our offense is top notch, but even the offensive coordinator is making questionable calls. Texas wouldn't falter if they got a proven coach to take his place.
