It's a dumb statement...you mad he won so many games prior to 2012? If you can't see he was the best hire at the time for LSU then you just don't really understand LSU football at all

The downside is maybe there is a known ceiling on Jimbo.

That ceiling is an undefeated NC. No downside there.

Eh. Saban got punched in the mouth against OU but I don't think Stoops is a better coach than Saban. Those games happen. Plus Jimbo would be able to hire and pay for an elite DC here, something he's not been able to do at FSU, which may have something to do with all the points being scored against FSU in big games. Jimbo's an offensive guy after all, he needs a good DC for that side of the ball.

Let me go on record that I would have no problems with Herman. If that's our guy, then I say go and get him. But there are reasons to take Fisher over Herman.

been sitting in the South Upper for forty years...I know more about LSU Football that you can piss in one sit...Bertman was sold a bill of goods by George Bass, just admit it and that pain between your ears will go away

Ive been sitting In the uppers for 35 years so go suck it dude. You should then know better than anyone what it was like to lose constantly in the 80's and 90's...Miles won more than any other coach we have had and helped build our national brand. Now everyone wants to coach and play here. Sure wasn't like that in the old days. Get out of here with this bs

You do realize this is coming from the same guy who hired Les? LSU legend or not, even he doesn't get it right every time.

Jimbo is the safer pick.

The bigger thing that jimbo may bring is that he won't leave. I think this would be Jimbo last stop . Herman . You may end up with another Saban situation.

Same is true with the guy I want , LK. if he is successful. He may run somewhere else in 4 or 5. Contract would have to make it hard for him to leave something behind

I think Jimbo would be your best bet, if it were realistic to get him. He has a proven track record as a head coach at a big-time program and a NC and this is a huge quality to have.

As a long time coach, I can say that often it's much easier to coach a bunch of kids with less god-given talent or expectations, bend them the right way to work in your system, and even to get David hyped up to go out and take down Goliath, than it is to coach a team just swimming in high talent and also pressure-cooker expectations.

My concern would be that Herman would turn out to be a Hoke. Does great at motivating players at a rising school with historically low expectations and creating excitement, but once you give him the keys to the Ferrari with Michigan plates, he doesn't quite know what to do with it.

I don't know why Fisher would leave FSU; conversely, I think Herman would take the LSU job in a heartbeat.

I do think based on some of the desires of this AD of yours, you're going to go for an offensive-minded HC. That's too bad, with all that NFL-level defensive talent in Louisiana. If so, I think you guys ought to go for Kyle Shanahan... an offensive guru and you gotta like him for resigning from his job at Cleveland rather than being forced to start Johnny Manziel. (Personally, I would love to see Mike Leach get the job out of sheer morbid curiosity, but I don't think he fits most of your guys' style to even give him a chance.)

Wasn't he considered when Miles was hired?

well, according to Skip yesterday he was never really considered because Saban said he was not ready. Skip said he liked Jimbo too much to get his hopes up by interviewing him. You can tell Skip thinks he is more than ready now.

I think Fisher fits that long term guy at LSU model better than Herman. If Hermans heart is in TX, I'd hire Jimbo. To leave FSU where it is now means that dude LOVES LSU
