Did I just hear some double bass?!? Didn't think Lars had it in him anymore.
This is the best song they've released in a long time. Solid solo as well.

Great song
I enjoyed the first release as well. This album may just shape up to be really solid if the rest are anywhere close to the first two.

Great song. Has all of Metallica's best elements. Thrashy, melodic, groovy, etc

Honestly, as I was listening, I got the strong impression that the vast majority of the cymbal work was done separately. It just seemed kind of disjointed and outside of Lars' abilities.
Also, I think the most most cliche album cover ever has been created.

I like it. It's gonna be a great album. Looking forward to the release.

They played this on Stern yesterday and performed the into to the album and both were really classic metallica. Good shite.

It is pretty good, but just sounds like another track off the Death Magnetic album.

quote:agree. I like the backing vocals. they were subtle but added a lot to the song for me. only dislike was kirk's use of the wah. good song.

That's a negative?

I REALLY like this song.

This is great. It has depth, complexity, progression and good old Metallica riffing. Kirk's solos have failed to do anything for me in the past 15 years of listening but that's to be expected - he does what he does and that's that. If the album is a mix between Hardwired and this (prefer this) it should be good.

It sounds like filler just like Hardwired. I'm one of the Metallica fans that think the whole "we can still thrash!!" thing that started with DM is silly as shite. Throw a few in there but their strength since TBA came out is fat heavy stuff like Sad But True, Harvester, etc. The production isn't as bad as DM but the tones still sound horrible. James' rhythm tone sounds completely digital and has no depth. I don't hear any dynamics in this song or Hardwired, it's just a flat line. James used to be one of the best songwriters alive, now his riffs are generic and his lyrics sound like an 8 year old wrote them. Metallica is the reason I picked up a guitar, but they sound like a band doing an impression of Metallica now.

Stark differences beginning with the production quality followed by song arrangement

Lol. So, my question is why do you still listen?

That's the best he can do.
