Was looking at the CCA winners earlier and noticed that the tagged redfish category is now empty...

Anyone know what happened? What's the scoop?

If you recall, a Baton Rouge angler had caught one the first day of the tournament, only hours after signing up. Guess the fishy story was just a little too fishy?

And the original story of the fish being caught is no longer up on CCAs website or facebook.

I hadn't heard anything but noticed it was missing off the list when I checked the final standings last week.

Here's the link to the original LA Sportsman's article, says he registered the Monday night and caught the fish the next morning. Guessing he probably caught the fist then registered.

Last time that happened, the fisherman donated the prize back after he realized he would need to pass a polygraph.

Nonetheless, congrats to all the winners- anyone on the board taking home a prize?

You can't donate a prize you don't win or posses. You can withdraw your entry.

Little known La law, cheating I a fiahing contest is a felony.

No news on the redfish, but a little controversy in the Speckled Trout division...

My girlfriend or I caught a CCA tagged trout in Hopedale but either of us were members at the time. The tag was covered in slime and I didn't even see it until I was cleaning the fish. I called CCA and they said it was the first reported tagged fish in that division, and I would have won 2,500 worth of tackle.

If I am ever living good enough to where I can take the time to cheat in a fishing tournament, I will know that I have it made.

Might have told this story before but a guy I know cut the tag off a tagged redfish and tossed it back in the water. The tag is now epoxied inside of an edson steering wheel knob

And they should publicize and enforce the hell out of it.I feel like this tournament does a lot to make it fair for people fishing different zones with different tackle and in kayaks vs boat advantages. There are prizes available in so many categories, but when people lie or cheat and aren't penalized it's unfair to all the participants.

Let's remember what CCA attempts to do for our coast and our fishing regulations, that's what the funds raised through these tournaments are really about.

CCA in Louisiana does very little for coastal restoration. They put out a few reefs for fishing, and thats about it as far as any on the ground work goes. They are essentially a fishing organization which isnt a bad thing

CCA in other places across the states does very large projects for coastal restoration

That's awesome, I pulled the tag out and I'm not sure what I want to do with it. I figure I will probably frame it and put it at my girlfriend's family' camp in she'll beach or something like that.
