CCA = a bunch of dudes having a circle jerk with a raffle to follow. They used to be so much more. Fuccum.

Seems like he doesn't participate as much anymore. Most get tired of CCA's shite after some time.

That's because they are a bunch of fricking nerds.

To be fair, I get why they do the things they do. In order to get paid, they need people to donate money. They can't do that if they are spending all their money restoring their own private property. In the end they would just be sitting around giving each other dutch rudders.

If I'm a sportsman who wants to donate a little money and be a part of an organization that protects and enhances our coastal resources and habitat then what organization should I look at instead of CCA? Im not trying to be snarky and sarcastic. I'm genuinely curious as an avid fisherman. All of the organizations seem to be a load of BS these days with too many hands in the pot looking for personal profit. Just look at LDWF for instance.

It's in everyone's best interest for this to be done.

That is a very good question. The answer would depend on who you are asking. Personally, I do not believe one exists. The coast is all private, so no matter who you donate to they sure as shite aren't going to do anything to enhance your experience. Unless of course you're after artificial reefs.

Take Cocodrie for example. If the members of the OB banded together and donated $100 million to restore the coast line of lower Terrbonne parish, how would that impact us as donors? Who's coast line would we be protecting? I'm sure Apache or whomever is the big land owner in that genera area would be thankful but you will not gain anything other than a tax write off.

The question nobody wants to ask is who's coast are we protecting? Not mine. Not yours because if you own some you should be protecting it yourself with your own money.

Not sure. I used to run donated CCA fishing charters out of the country and it was always Joe blow CCA members getting discounted charters at the expense of other members. The guys that could afford the charters ran the show, while members that couldn't afford such charters along with travel and accomdations (not included) couldn't "claim their prize". It's basically one sided for chapter high ups to get what they want in protecting thier interests. Those interests are areas around where they fish or trips abroad.

Didn't CCA spend a couple hundred thousand dollars last year hiring blue water charters out of Texas?

Not sure, haven't dealt with CCA since the early 2000's. I ran charters for a guy that would raffle off overseas fishing charters and he was high up in the CCA world. They were his boats, and to fill spots on our dates without a booking, he would offer discounted charters via CCA raffles. Some winners couldn't afford the travel and lodging fees that weren't included. Looking at you Randy Pipes.

Any big ticket item like that would be used in a auction, not in a raffle. Anyone buying a trip in a auction would have all the trip details available to them prior to them bidding on the trip. Many guides and outfitters donate trips for either discounted rates or as straight up donations depending on the relationship between the donor and local chapter looking for the donation, the guide gets some advertisement for their business and a tax write off and CCA gets either a raffle or live auction item to help at the fundraiser. Fyi, the guides don't get paid if the trip isn't taken by the winner.
